She’s been called a champion all over the world. But the words that brought me to tears were “MY PRINCESS.” ❤️
Savannah is home from her extended lease.
When her head popped over the stall door, Mildred ran toward her with her arms wide open.
“MY PRINCESS!”
And right there was everything I love about horses.
Savannah’s accomplishments could fill pages. Multiple International Friesian Sporthorse Horse Association Horse of the Year titles. Several USEF Horse of the Year honors. A career carrying beginners and competing through FEI Advanced, in singles, pairs, and four-in-hands—including the World Equestrian Games.
She is known and loved around the world. To me, she’s the best horse that ever lived.
And to Mildred, she’s her princess.
Imagine everything this mare has experienced. The places she’s traveled. The people she’s taught. The confidence she’s given someone who was just learning, and the heart she’s given when the questions became bigger.
How lucky are we to be loved by a horse like that?
These horses are the heart of everything we do. Every lesson, every competition, every goal begins with a living, feeling individual who deserves our patience, our respect, and our care.
Supporting them means listening when they struggle. Giving them time when they need it. Adjusting our expectations. Making sure their comfort and happiness matter as much as our ambitions. Loving them through every chapter, whatever that chapter asks of us.
Their place in our hearts should never depend on what they can do for us next.
Savannah has given so much to so many people. Having her home, and watching my daughter throw her arms around her, means more than I can put into words.
Welcome home, our beautiful girl. You are so loved. 👑❤️
Tell me about the horse who holds this place in your heart. I’d love to hear their name, see a picture, and what makes them your “best horse that ever lived.”
