🎶🐾 MONDAY SPA UPDATE: We’ve Got TUNES! 🐾🎶

I recently introduced dog-friendly spa music throughout the ENTIRE grooming process—bath, drying, haircut, everything—and y’all… 👀

I have noticed a chance of difference in the dogs.

The salon feels calmer. The dogs seem more relaxed. And paired with one-on-one grooming, it has made an already personalized experience even better. ❤️

No room full of barking dogs.
No assembly-line grooming.
No unnecessary chaos.

Just one groomer, one dog, a calmer environment, and apparently a pretty good doggy playlist. 😂🎵

Every dog handles grooming differently, so I’m always looking for little ways to make their experience more comfortable—and sometimes something as simple as changing the environment can make a BIG difference.

This is exactly why I believe so strongly in one-on-one grooming. It gives me the opportunity to actually watch your dog, learn what helps them, adjust when something isn’t working, and groom at their pace.

Because grooming shouldn’t just be about how cute they look when they leave.

How they FEEL while they’re here matters too. ❤️🐾

🐾 SUNDAY CUTIE PATOOTIE ROLL CALL 🐾

Meet Milton, Leo & Dottie — three adorable pups with three completely different personalities and grooming needs. ❤️

🐶 Milton — Milton is seriously THE BEST boy. His favorite pastime during grooming? Sitting. 😂 With those adorable little Corgi legs, can you really blame him? Instead of constantly making him stand when he’s more comfortable sitting, we work around Milton and adjust the grooming process to what works best for him. Comfort and safety come before convenience—and if Milton says we’re sitting today, apparently we’re sitting. 😂❤️

🐶 Leo — Leo has a little anxiety when it comes to grooming, especially when that big, loud dryer gets involved. Enter the Happy Hoodie! ❤️ It helps reduce the noise around his ears and makes the drying process much more comfortable for him. Other than his personal disagreement with the dryer 😂, Leo does fantastic for everything else!

🐶 Dottie — This sweet girl had her VERY FIRST haircut! 🥹❤️ She did amazing with one-on-one grooming! A puppy’s first few appointments are a learning experience. They’re getting used to new sounds, tools, handling, and figuring out what this whole grooming thing is about. There will always be things to learn and work on between appointments, but Dottie and her family are already on the right track!

And THAT is why I love one-on-one grooming. ❤️

Every dog is different. One may need to sit through most of the groom. One may need a Happy Hoodie. Another may need extra time, breaks, reassurance, or a completely different approach.

We don’t expect perfection—we figure out what works for each individual dog and build from there.

Sunday is for relaxing, resetting, and pretending Monday isn’t coming. 😂

And your dog deserves a little self-care too!

🐾 Check those nails — are we clicking across the floor like tap shoes?

👂 Give those ears a sniff — funky is NOT a fragrance.

🪮 Run your hands through their coat — feel any tangles starting?

🦷 Take a peek at those teeth — because dragon breath deserves attention.

🐕 Check paws, skin, and anywhere your dog normally doesn’t want you investigating. 👀

Regular little checks at home can help you catch problems before they turn into bigger ones — and make grooming appointments much easier on your pup.

🐾 SAFETY SATURDAY: Sometimes We Just Gotta Call It 😂

Some dogs come to the groomer ready to cooperate.

Others come in acting like they’ve been personally betrayed by the entire grooming industry. 🤣

A little wiggling, side-eye, dramatic sighing, husky screaming, or suddenly forgetting how their legs work? Pretty normal.

But there IS a point where a groomer has to say:

“Alright friend… today is NOT our day.” 😂

A good groomer should know the difference between a pet being dramatic and a pet becoming genuinely overwhelmed or unsafe.

🚨 We watch for things like excessive panting, trouble breathing, frantic escape attempts, escalating fear or aggression, weakness, exhaustion, abnormal gum color, or stress that keeps getting worse even after breaks.

Sometimes we take a break.

Sometimes we change tools, change positions, sing ridiculous songs, offer emotional support, negotiate terms and conditions, and question every career choice that led us to this exact moment. 😂

And sometimes… WE STOP.

Because Buddy having one funky foot or slightly uneven eyebrow is NOT worth pushing him past his limit.

❤️ A groom does not have to be perfect to be safe.

At The Ultimutt Spa, your pet’s safety and comfort will always come before finishing every last hair.

Some pets may need shorter appointments, more frequent grooming, veterinary assistance, or just a completely different game plan — and that’s okay!

✨ Meet **Bennie**, our handsome Goldendoodle! ✨

Goldendoodles are one of America's most loved family dogs, and it's easy to see why! They're intelligent, affectionate, playful, and love being with their people. But behind those adorable fluffy curls is a coat that requires regular maintenance.

🐶 **Goldendoodle Fun Facts**
• Goldendoodles are a mix between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle.
• They're highly intelligent and learn new commands quickly.
• They thrive on companionship and don't enjoy being left alone for long periods.
• Every Goldendoodle's coat is unique. Some are curly, some wavy, and some are straighter.

🪮 **Coat Care Tips**
✔ Brush your Goldendoodle **every day**, or at least 4 to 5 times per week.
✔ Always brush all the way down to the skin, not just the top layer of hair.
✔ Use a slicker brush first, then follow with a metal comb. If the comb doesn't glide through easily, there are still tangles hiding underneath.
✔ Pay extra attention to problem areas like:
🐾 Behind the ears
🐾 Under the collar
🐾 Armpits
🐾 Belly
🐾 Legs and tail

💦 **Bathing**
Most Goldendoodles benefit from a bath every 4 to 6 weeks, along with a professional grooming appointment on the same schedule. Waiting too long between grooms often leads to painful matting that may require the coat to be shaved.

Matting isn't just a cosmetic issue. Tight mats pull on your dog's skin every time they move and can trap moisture, dirt, bacteria, and even hide sores or infections.

Every dog has a voice. They just don't use words.

Many behaviors that people mistake for "bad" are actually your dog's way of communicating fear, stress, uncertainty, or even trust. Learning to recognize these signals can make a world of difference in your dog's comfort, confidence, and overall well-being.

Here are a few common body language cues:

🐶 Yawning: Often a sign of stress, not sleepiness.

👅 Lip Licking: A calming signal that may mean, "I'm feeling uncomfortable."

🐾 Lifting a Paw: Can indicate uncertainty or nervousness.

👀 Looking Away: Your dog may be trying to avoid conflict and stay calm.

💓 Panting (when they're not hot)**: May signal stress, fear, or excitement.

🤍 Leaning Into You: Often means your dog trusts you and is looking for reassurance.

⚠️ Growling: A growl is communication, not defiance. Your dog is telling you something doesn't feel right. Listening to that warning helps build trust and keeps everyone safer.
