šŸ€At this time every person on the list has been contacted! If I did not contact you and you should be on the list please reach out.
We have 3 litters born (SMALL amounts) but of the 5 paired up I believe at least 4 of them are with bean! (Yay!) and this week I plan to pair up two more girls as space allows (yay) as this list is fairly long and we do average smaller litters.
Currently I have waiting :
10 for female
6 for male
2 for no preference
No pref can flip for either gender, and some people may drop off the list. But inspired heavy so please don’t let these bigger numbers scare you :) you can still submit an application/get added to the list!
I’ll have plenty for summer set 2 and 3
šŸ€Set two reservations are this week, expect babies born for set three between June 9th and June 18th. Their pairing date was May 19th and they may not have taken on day 1, and rats can carry for 21-26 days on Ava grate (20-28 is also possible) so that’s why the expecting date varies!
I will try to get ā€œwe’re expectingā€ photo shoots this time around as long as my health allows for it as it is always something I enjoy doing!
šŸ€Happy Monday!
Expect an update video tomorrow with more details!

Hoping we will finally have baby tenrecs this year! Sylv is back up to her pre torpor weight and is steadily gaining it, and Niffer is chonky lol. They are eating well! Who might want a tenrec? They are solitary, live 7-10 years on average, and are relatively easy pets.
They sleep from October-April but during this time you can still interact with them. They are arboreal and value a cage they can climb. Mine have a single critter nation with 2 shelf’s, a wheel, and things to climb on. They do need to stay warm so if your house is colder you’d want a a heat lamp for them. My house stays around 68-72 year round so I got them two heat lamps. (One on each half)
They are primarily insectivores I feed mine a mix of super worms, meal worms, wax worms, and the occasional dubia but you can feed any feeder insects you desire (I’m just scared of dubias lol) they also eat dried mealworms in their food mix. I feed mine a high protein grain free cat food mixed with insectivore diet from exotic nutrition (which they took away the other one I mixed the soft with the pellets but they don’t sell the soft now)
They are relatively friendly, I hold mine all the time. They can bite, but mine have only ever on accident (they don’t see well and I had messed with bugs lol) they can also eat things like chicken, and eggs!
They have internal bits so without DNA testing gender is not 100% but usually the face shape and body structure can give it away (females have a longer face and generally are larger than males) but that is something I could offer but as solitary animals it’s not as important.
For non gendered p r i c e s would be around 3 0 0 and if we wanted to go the route of gendering them if enough people wanted them and wanted them sexed it would likely go up to about 3 5 0-3 8 0 depending on the cost of supplies, testing, shipping, and waiting for results.
They are wonderful pets though, and I adore them!
They are also less poky than hedgehogs and are not related to them at all. (Actually I’m allergic to hedgehogs, but not these guys!)

It has come to my attention with now multiple texts that tail humane society (one of the shelters out here) is giving out my phone number to people to surrender animals too.
I don’t know where they got my number, or where they got the idea that I am a rescue but I need to address this and make this clear I guess.
I am one person running a small scale hobby rattery. I am not a rescue, I cannot be a rescue, that puts my animals at risk. Unknown rats can bring in things like rat bite fever, SDAV, Seoul, and other things that can put my rats at risk and put YOU at risk as well. I also can’t afford to serology test every single unknown rat that people want to drop off to me or the space to properly quarantine and care for random animals. I ONLY take back the animals that i produce.
I am not a rescue, I am not an ā€œorganizationā€, I am not able to and will not accept any animals into my home and my rattery that I did not produce. That is not my responsibility. My responsibilities are my animals and the animals I produce and their health as well as the health of people who want to adopt these animals. I do not take unnecessary risks and I’m not ever going to. This is not negotiable.
I have contacted Tails this time via email, if they don’t stop giving out my phone number to random strangers I will be changing my number, but this is unacceptable.

This weeks agenda-
šŸ€ scheduling pick ups for summer set 1
šŸ€ more baby pics! Eyes are starting to open!
šŸ€updating the waiting list! (Get those applications in!)
We have 1 litter of 5 standard, 1 litter of 3 dwarfs, 1 litter of 5 dwarfs. Reservations will start for them in about 2 weeks! I will have to keep at minimum 4 of the dwarfs, 2 of each gender. Keep that in mind that to keep my lines going I need rats to keep them going.
We have paired up 6 ladies as you may have seen in the YouTube video and I do have other dwarfs with males too in hopes of more beans! I have plans for 2 more girls to be paired if litters are small or the waiting list grows!
Happy sunday!!

Hello my fellow rat lovers!

I just wanted to say something real quick…

There are some ratteries or rat pages out there who post with the primary intention of driving engagement for their page, and not with the intention of bettering the hobby or the lives of the animals.

If you see a rattery posting pictures of them holding up a hugely pregnant momma rat with no support underneath her, or their rats interacting directly with a cat or dog, quite simply that is an uneducated and unethical breeder. Be wary of anything coming from pages like that, as they are likely to be full of misinformation. And please be wary of actually adopting from them.

Please remember that rats are small and delicate, and they are prey animals! Holding up a pregnant rat with no support underneath can cause injury to momma, and can cause the babies’ placentas to detach and unalive them. Cats and dogs should NEVER have direct contact with your rats, ā€œaccidentsā€ can happen in a split second and any entertainment you derive from this type of interaction is not worth the animals’ lives and wellbeing. It’s not worth the risk, however small you think the risk is. I do not care how ā€œwell trained/behavedā€ you claim your cat or dog to be, I don’t care how many times you have done this without incident. As a pet owner, and especially as a breeder, you have a responsibility to the animals in your care that you should take very seriously. You should always be learning new information and striving to improve your husbandry of these wonderful little creatures.

I’ll never step off my soapbox about this. It’s fine to make rat content, it’s unconscionable to spread unsafe handling practices for content. Do better. šŸ–¤šŸ–¤šŸ–¤

*Photo of my sweet girl 11, when she was hugely pregnant in 2022, for rat tax. Notice that I am lifting up her front half to show off the baby bump, and her bottom half is fully supported and sat on a soft towel. She ended up having 11 babies.

Looks like 2 boys and a girl from chihiro but I’m not sure yet, one of two dwarf litters but I don’t share photos until she’s open with Dwarfs.
I will need to bond back most of the dwarfs as I am running low on them, but as long as all 8 make it, I should have 3 or 4 for adoption.
