🚨 PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT FROM MATTIS (who has absolutely zero anxiety but fully supports medicated friends): 🚨
Listen up, humans.
Every. Single. Year.
Y’all wait until July 3rd at 4:59 p.m. to call your vet like…
“Hi… soooo… my dog thinks the apocalypse is happening. Do you have any trazodone?”
No, Karen.
The appointment book is fuller than Costco on a Saturday.
If your dog turns into a caffeinated squirrel every time the sky starts yelling, CALL YOUR VET TODAY. Get the prescription. Fill it early. Be an adult.
Because while YOU’RE outside screaming “WOOOOO! MERICA!” 🇺🇸…
Your dog is inside:
🫠 Applying for asylum.
🫠 Digging to China through your hardwood floors.
🫠 Trying to become one with the washing machine.
🫠 Questioning every life decision that led them to your family.
And before anyone says…
“He’ll be fine.”
Will he, Brenda?
Because every Fourth of July shelters are flooded with dogs who busted through windows, climbed six-foot fences, yeeted themselves out doors, or somehow unlocked a deadbolt using pure panic.
Here’s your checklist:
✅ Call the vet NOW if your dog needs anxiety meds.
✅ Keep them INSIDE.
✅ Make sure their ID tags and microchip info are current.
✅ Close the blinds.
✅ Turn on the TV or music.
✅ Give them something fun to chew on.
❌ Do NOT take your anxious dog to watch fireworks because “he needs to get used to it.”
He doesn’t.
He thinks the government has declared war on the backyard.
Do your dog a favor. Plan ahead.
Because freedom is great…
…but not as great as not having to post “HAS ANYONE SEEN MY DOG?” at 11:47 p.m. while your neighbors are still launching fireworks they definitely bought legally.
— Love,
Mattis
