⚠️ Montgomery County is under an air quality alert until 12:15 a.m. Wednesday. Keep pets safe and follow the tips below:

- Bring pets inside whenever possible
- Close windows 🪟 and use the air conditioner to help filter out particles
- Avoid spending long periods of time outside
- Make sure your pet always has access to fresh water 💧
- Watch for signs of respiratory distress (excess panting 🥵, blue gums, abnormal breathing rate, occasional coughing) and eye inflammation

Dogs with asthma or bronchitis, short snouts (think boxers, pugs, etc.), and puppies and seniors, are more likely to be affected by poor air quality. If your pet is struggling to breathe or experiencing signs of respiratory distress, contact your vet immediately.

🌎Today is World Health Day 🌍 Pets can impact human health in a variety of ways. Animals carry diseases that can be transmitted to humans which can be reduced with responsible pet ownership and preventable care including vaccines and parasite prevention.
🧠Another way human and animal health are connected is through mental health. Time with animals can reduce stress and boost mood through companionship and emotional support.
