Abbey's Acres Welcome, friends! Thanks for following my happy micro-sanctuary in the city ♡

My best friend once said to me "you guys find more animals than anyone I know!" Really though, they find us! This house finch is the most recent little one to find her way to us. John spotted her in the yard while mowing, and it is clear she has sustained a head injury or an illness with neurological involvement. Poor little thing was trying desperately to get around but could really only hop in circles 💔

We keep finch food on hand for our outdoor friends, so we gave her a dish of that and a shallow dish of water. Despite her crazy head movements, she was actually able to eat, drink, and p**p normally! We kept her safe for the evening and just dropped her off at the rehabber, hopeful for a positive update when we call in a couple days.

Another day, another vet visit! We have gone a pretty long (for us) stretch without one though, so I can't complain too ...

Another day, another vet visit! We have gone a pretty long (for us) stretch without one though, so I can't complain too much.

Tootie isn't feeling well, so off to the vet we go. With an hour an a half drive each way, a special coffee treat was needed ☕️ Thankful for weekend access to avian medical care, even if I do have to drive a long way for it. When any friend joins us at the Acres, they are ALL promised quality veterinary care ❤️

Any time I lay on the couch, at least one house hen has to join and take a pretend dust bath ☺️

It's a beautiful day in the Folded Ear Dog Park orchard!

Folded Ear is a reservation only dog park located in Tipp City, OH. You and your dogs are the ONLY ones in your chosen park area during your reservation. We don't have a fenced yard, so having this safe option just a short drive away is so awesome!

It's a beautiful day for a trip to Folded Ear Dog Park! This was Millie's first time and she absolutely loved running all over the orchard at top speed! I couldn't get videos of her fastest running because she wanted me to run with her 🏃‍♀️

For those who are unfamiliar, Folded Ear is a reservation only dog park with multiple fenced areas to choose from. You and your dogs are the ONLY ones allowed in your chosen area during your reservation, plus there is a 15 minute buffer between visits so you don't have to worry about running into other dogs while coming and going from your car. I have previously never used dog parks because I just don't trust dogs (or people) I don't know, so I am very grateful that Folded Ear was opened and is only 20 min from me!

Beautiful girl looking for a new home OR foster! She is a hunting breed, so really needs to be the only indoor pet.

Coco is 5 years old and 70 pounds of Treeing Walker Coonhound mix charm — playful, goofy, and completely devoted to her humans. She loves tug-of-war, knows her commands, and is proudly potty trained and crate trained (because she’s a good girl and she knows it). Coco’s signature move is carrying a stuffed animal around at all times like it’s her emotional support plush, and she’s happiest when she’s right by your side. While she had a difficult past, she’s come a long way in her foster home and has learned to trust again, and now she’s ready to find the adopter who will be her safe place forever. Coco needs to be the only dog in the home, but in return, she’ll give you the kind of loyal, all-in love that makes you wonder how you ever lived without her.

Just some happy duck content for your feed 🥰 I don't fill the pool much in winter, which means the girls have had very few opportunities to go bobbing for peas. Warmer temps this weekend finally changed that! In addition, all the melting snow has left their run a muddy mess, which is a duck's paradise. Fresh pool full of peas and mud to dig in afterwards. It doesn't get much better than that for a duck!
