Time Enough at Last Teddy Roosevelt Terriers - TEAL TRTs

Back in early July, the boys got to run CAT at the Klimb Classic. It's Pippin's favorite sport, but these events aren't offered very often in our area.

FastCAT is a lure-chasing sport where the dogs follow the lure straight for around 100 meters, like a 100m sprint. In CAT, the course is 300m and it has loops and turns, which shows the dog's ability not only to run fast, but to stay on their "prey", aka the trash bag lure.

Pippin stayed on the lure the whole time as he finds the tracking to be the fun part, while Buster prefers the straight course in FastCAT as he just like running fast. He liked it, but he'll probably be sticking to FastCAT from now on.

Buster finished 2025 as the #1 Teddy Roosevelt Terrier in AKC FastCAT, earning a spot at the AKC FastCAT Invitational! Such an honor to be invited alongside some very speedy Teddies!

FastCAT stats have updated and now that Pippin has more than 3 runs on the board, he's able to be ranked. He slipped into the first place spot and Buster is holding in the top 5 as number 4. The stats are cools, but really, the boys just love the chase. We wouldn't do it if they didn't have fun each time.

Also, Pippin got his BCAT title at the Cornbelt Kennel Club a few weeks ago. Buster is only a few points short for his FCAT, which he'll get in August with the Janesville-Beloit Kennel Club. It's fitting, because that's where he got his BCAT in 2024!

Last weekend was SO busy!

On Saturday, we went to a fun match to support a new UKC Club, The Illinois Riverbottom Great Dane Club. We had the best time, especially Buster, who made friends with an aspiring Junior Handler and enjoyed playing show dog with the little guy. Penny took Best of Breed and Terrier group 1 in the first match.

Sunday was FastCAT day for the boys. Buster was exhausted from spending the previous day with his new buddy, so he was a little slow, but Pippin was fired up and fast.

Monday, Penny went out to the Cornbelt Kennel Club AKC show. We were both pretty worn out by that point, but it was so nice to see so many wonderful Teddy folks out showing.

First FastCAT of the season with the Janesville-Beloit Kennel Club over the weekend! Buster is just getting warmed up after finishing 2025 as the #1 Teddy Roosevelt Terrier. Pippin went out on Sunday for the first time and he loves the chase! Both boys ran sub 10 seconds on their runs for the weekend and will get faster as the weather gets warmer.
