Welcome to the Paws & Plants Plano club, Lily!

Lily had her very first Paws & Plants drop-in today, and this sweet girl got the full VIP treatment!

Her dad chose a one-hour drop-in, which gave us plenty of time for a potty break outside, a little sunbathing, a yummy Pupsicle, and some relaxing TV time—with LOTS of pets and cuddles, of course. 🥰

Extended visits are perfect for pets like Lily who enjoy a little extra companionship, enrichment, and attention while their people are away. 🐶💗

Safe to say, Lily knows how to spend an afternoon!

🌞🐾 Beat the Texas Heat: Help Your Dog Stay Safe This Summer! 🐾🌞

Summer adventures are more fun when our pups stay cool and comfortable! As temperatures climb, here are a few simple ways to protect your four-legged best friend:

💧 Always bring fresh water on walks.
🌳 Stick to shady trails and parks whenever possible.
🌅 Walk early in the morning or later in the evening when it’s cooler.
🐾 Test the pavement with the back of your hand for 7 seconds. If it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for their paws! (My pup has booties!)
🏡 Never leave your dog in a parked car—not even for a few minutes.
❄️ Treat them to frozen goodies like ice cubes, frozen carrots, or dog-safe frozen treats.
😴 Watch for signs of overheating, including excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, or confusion. If you notice these symptoms, move your dog to a cool place, offer water, and contact your veterinarian immediately.

Remember, our dogs count on us to make safe choices for them. A little extra planning means more tail wags, happy walks, and healthy adventures all summer long! ❤️🐕

Yesterday was a slow day here at Paws & Plants Plano so I spent the day at my favorite little shelter: Second Chance SPCA! I help out by photographing the adoptable kitties. We have a whole new batch of cuties, almost ready to go home (but these six need to be fixed first!). If you’re interested in adding a cat to your home, swing by the shelter during business hours! They can’t wait to meet you. 🩷 And of course you know who to call to babysit them. 🥰
