Spooky season is popping up in all of our neighborhoods & on our daily walks! Here are some quick tips to helping your puppy with these environmental changes:

🎃Be sure to bring extra tasty training treats on every walk and be on the lookout for any new decorations.
🎃If your pup is curious about anything new in a neighbor’s yard, say “yes” and reward him as soon as he looks at the object. Repeat this step several times.
🎃If you notice that your puppy seems worried about the object, move further away or find another route to take your pup on.
🎃Socialization is all about forming good, positive feelings about the world. If we push a pup into getting too close to a new item that they aren’t comfortable with, there’s a good chance that their fear will increase. By keeping them at a distance they are comfortable with, and creating a positive association by giving treat, you’ll have the best chance of increasing their confidence and making walks fun for you both.

🐾 Have you heard about Great Dog Day School? 🐾

Looking for a jump start on your dog’s training? Our Great Dog Day School gives your pup 12 days of focused training with our professional trainers, all while they spend the day with us (drop off in the morning, pick up each evening)!

This program is for dogs and puppies of all ages, and the training is customized around the behaviors that matter most to your family. Basic manners, similar to what we cover in our Manners 1 class, are typically part of the program, along with extra attention to the areas that are challenging for you and your pup.

✨ Your priorities matter! Before training begins, you’ll have a chance to tell us which behaviors are most important to your family, and we’ll make those a focus of your dog’s training.

Whether you’re starting with a puppy, working with an adult dog, or simply ready to make some progress on those pesky problem behaviors, Great Dog Day School can help get you moving in the right direction!
