Canticle Farm Texas

Canticle Farm Texas Local, sustainable farm Welcome to Canticle Farm!

We are a family run farm and have a market garden, grow fresh flowers and herbs, and raise miniature Nubian dairy goats. We also have an ever growing line of handcrafted soaps, balms and lotions and other body products, many made with our goats milk. We practice sustainable agriculture to produce healthier, hardier livestock and some of the best veggies and fruit you've ever tasted.

Fall is coming, and so are the Georgia Candy Roaster's. We have been harvesting some of our winter squash this week and these beauties have done well. Great size, sweet flavor and big seeds for easy cleaning make this a great fall vegetable. They can be substituted for fresh pumpkin and are great baked or fried. Ours will need to cure for a month or so to build the best flavor, so look for them in September.

It's been awhile, but I had to post when the Dragonfruit put out buds! Hopefully all her babies from last year are ready to bloom as well. The garden is getting that overgrown slightly browner tinge, but still producing and the zinnias are thrilled with the warmer weather. The fig tree is also loaded and we've been bringing a few containers of figs to the market every week and will be making Drunken Fig jam soon. Everyone stay cool!

With things heating up in Texas, the okra is finally producing well. We tried a new variety this year along with our normal Clemson Spineless. Everblush is a smooth, non-ribbed variety that can get some red blushing with the green. It also tastes fantastic with a clean okra flavor. One thing we really like is that the pods stay tender when they are large. Pick some up at the farmers market this Saturday and let us know what you think. If it continues to produce well, we will start pickling it too.
