Friday the 13th Litter 6-Month Update Post
9/13/26
The Friday the 13th Litter are 6-months old today and they are out there KILLIN’ IT!!!
As we get closer to Fall and Halloween it is easy to celebrate these (non)slashers. Hopefully the weather will turn cooler making it easier to get your pups out and about for fun walks around pet supply stores, home improvement stores, parks and other places to be social ambassadors for the breed! Be sure and treat them to a pup cup from locations that spoil dogs. With Halloween around the corner maybe they will help hand out candy to youngsters.
Your dogs should be fully vaccinated and on a heartworm preventative to protect them. We like Sentinel, but there are other great options as well. Make sure you are aware of the pesky parasites more common in the areas you live, mosquitos, ticks, fleas, flies, etc. Make sure to protect them from these as well that spread tick born diseases, etc. You can treat your yards with safe insecticides. Be watchful of litter boxes and garden areas that small animals and cats potty, dogs will eat cat/skunk droppings causing worms and sickness. Be watchful of small objects, toys, socks, stuffing, rocks, etc that can cause intestinal blockage.
Your dogs should be getting taller and having a very lean, lanky appearance as they enter the awkward teenage phase. Skinny legs and boney hips are fine! They will also seem goofy and clumsy at times, remember they are growing fast. Your pup will magically go from a clumsy goofball to a majestic beastie overnight! (closer to age two!)
They should be transitioning to full adult food. By 6 to 8 months should be fully on a good adult brand dogfood with LOW protein. No more than 27% protein, but preferably around 24%. If they are still transitioning, begin feeding more adult and less puppy, weaning them completely from puppy by 8 months.
Remember to read your booklet and packet info. Hygromas (Elbow B***s) on large breed dog elbows and sometimes back end, are very normal and make sure your Vet knows that they are not to be DRAINED or REMOVED. They will go away as the dog grows and changes its flop habits.
Always remember we are your biggest advocate and resource. We love our pups and the IWH breed immensely and will do everything to keep them healthy. Never hesitate to contact us for anything. Always remember we love the pictures and updates and are so thankful to see them happy and thriving!
So, as we get closer to the “spooky” season we conclude with some beautiful pictures of the most wonderful of slashers stealing hearts and making people scream (with delight). J’s Son, Kru-grrr, Slimer, Joker, BJ (Beetle Juice), M & M, Chuck-E, Penny, Elvira, Belle, Crystal, Candy and Wednesday.
