🎉🐾 Happy Tails: Sadie's Story 🐾🎉

Back in 2017, the day after Christmas, I stopped by Dallas Animal Services to spend some time with the dogs. I never expected that I'd leave that day with my best friend.

Sadie had been at the shelter for nearly three months and was about a year and a half old when we met. I spent about 30 minutes with her, and while she was definitely more interested in the treats than in me, I fell completely in love.

On May 30, Sadie turned 10 years old. ❤️

Over the years, she's been my constant companion through countless adventures, celebrations, and everyday moments. She has brought so much joy to my life and to my family. I truly can't imagine life without her. Even her snores have become the perfect nighttime soundtrack.

I want to thank the incredible staff and volunteers who dedicate their time, energy, and hearts to the animals at DAS. Thank you for getting to know each pet's unique personality, caring for them during their stay, and helping families like mine find their perfect match.

Here's to many more birthdays, adventures, and milestones with my "little horse." 🐴❤️

🏡🐾 June is National Foster a Pet Month! 🐾🏡

There’s no better time to make a lifesaving difference for a shelter pet.

Dallas Animal Services is always in need of foster homes to help reduce shelter capacity, care for underage puppies and kittens, provide animals with a break from the shelter environment, and help more pets find loving homes.

With summer here, our shelter is expected to see an increase in the number of animals arriving each day. Foster families play a critical role in helping us meet that need and giving animals the best chance to thrive.

Whether you can foster for a few days, a few weeks, or longer, your home can make a world of difference. ❤️

🐱 Give animals a safe place to grow and decompress

Meet Oakley , a sweet and friendly 3-year-old girl who tends to be on the shy side. From our volunteer observations, Oakley appears laid back and social with other dogs, though she seems to prefer keeping to herself rather than seeking out play. She's working on building her confidence, including getting more comfortable with leash walking, and would benefit from a patient family who can help her continue to blossom. Come meet Oakley today!

Brandy is a little bit of a shy girl who is quickly learning how to build trust. She arrived as a stray but her finder described her as friendly and playful. Although initially timid and scared to walk on leash, she has opened up more to handling and enjoys outside yard time with patient handlers. While she is still developing her social skills in playgroup, Brandy has shown interest in other dogs from afar. We're certain Brandy's personality will bloom outside of the shelter. Could you provide a home to her as a foster/adopter?

🐾 Another week of lifesaving at Dallas Animal Services! 🐾

From May 25–31, our community helped make a difference for pets in need through adoptions, fostering, rescue partnerships, and reunions with their families. Every pet who leaves the shelter creates space and hope for another animal waiting for a second chance.

This week's featured pet is Kanga ( ) 💜

Kanga is a 4-year-old sweetheart who proves that sometimes the best dogs are the easiest ones to overlook. She loves car rides, walks beautifully on leash, welcomes new friends with a wagging tail, and is happiest spending time with her people—whether that's a short stroll around the neighborhood or a nap on the couch. Volunteers describe her as incredibly chill, affectionate, and the kind of dog who could fit into almost any home.

At 63 pounds, Kanga has plenty of love to give and is ready to trade her shelter kennel for a cozy spot in your home.

Meet Super !

This medium-sized brindle boy is a favorite among staff and volunteers. It doesn't quite make sense how he's been at our shelter for 35 days with these notes:

"Love, love Super! Took him to run club and he was incredibly easy to leash up and take outside . Walked nicely by the other dogs. Pottied right away once outside. He’s a total love bug. Instantly wanted pets and to be close. Great on leash and loved running with the other dogs. No negative notes, he was my favorite of the day!"

"Affectionate and well behaved!"

"Super was very excited to get out into the yard. He greeted the others calmly and interacted with the group in a calm manner."

Super might have arrived to DAS as a stray but he's destined for a life where he can become someone's sidekick!
