🧇🐾Just like her name, Waffles is sweet, comforting, and easy to love 🐾🧇

This people-oriented girl seems to enjoy affection, gentle attention, and a calm environment where she can relax and be herself. From our observations, Waffles has shown good leash manners and appears unfazed by loud noises, making her a pleasant companion.

While she enjoys her human friends, Waffles tends to keep to herself around other dogs and may appreciate slow introductions and time to build confidence with canine companions.

If you're looking for a loyal sidekick who would rather hang out with you than be the center of the party, Waffles might be your perfect match. ❤️

🐾🏡 Dallas Leaders Are Speaking Up for Shelter Pets. Now We Need Your Help. 🏡🐾

At yesterday's Dallas City Council meeting, Dallas Animal Services leaders brought adoptable pets Luna and Ruby to help shine a light on a challenge that can't be solved by the shelter alone: our kennels remain critically full.

Council Member Gay Donnell Willis spoke about the importance of community support in helping pets leave the shelter and find loving homes. Several council members also shared stories of their own adopted pets and the joy, companionship, and unconditional love shelter animals have brought to their families.

Now we're asking the community to help us write the next chapter for some of our longest-waiting dogs.

Many of the dogs featured below have been with us for more than two months. Day after day, they watch other pets leave while they continue to wait for someone to notice them.

They aren't broken.
They aren't bad dogs.
They've simply been overlooked.

❤️ Please take a moment to look through their photos.
🏡 Consider adopting or fostering.

🐾 Help us give these dogs the happy ending they've been waiting for.

Every pet that leaves the shelter creates space for another animal in need.

Visit bedallas90.org to meet adoptable pets and learn how you can help.
Together, we can turn months of waiting into a lifetime of love. ❤️🐶

🐾💙🤎 Tail Waggin' Thursday! 🤎💙🐾

This week's tail is wagging for the handsome Hunter !

At just 1 year old and 62 pounds, Hunter is a sweet and friendly boy who wins hearts with his happy wagging tail, gentle nature, and striking good looks. And did we mention his eyes? 👀 One is bright blue and the other warm brown, making this young pup as unique on the outside as he is on the inside.

Hunter enjoys meeting people and happily accepts affection from his human friends. Based on volunteer observations, he appears social with other dogs and tends to have a laid-back, easygoing play style. He's also still building confidence while on leash and appreciates having the chance to explore new places at his own pace.

Whether he's checking out a new trail, soaking up attention from his favorite people, or simply wagging his tail through the day, Hunter approaches life with a sweet spirit and a curious heart.

🏡 Hunter is ready to find a family who will help him continue growing in confidence and discovering all the joys of being a beloved companion.

Could those unforgettable blue-and-brown eyes be looking for you? 💙🤎🐾

🐾 Meet Jasmine! 🐾

Jasmine is a sweet 3-year-old girl who may be a little shy when meeting new people, but those who take the time to earn her trust are rewarded with a gentle and loving companion.

From our observations, Jasmine appears to enjoy the company of other dogs and prefers calm, laid-back interactions over rowdy play. She seems to appreciate having space to settle in and get comfortable before showing her true personality.

Because new situations can make her a bit nervous, Jasmine would thrive with a patient family willing to let her move at her own pace. With kindness, consistency, and a little time, she has the potential to blossom into a devoted best friend.

💕 If you believe the best relationships are worth waiting for, Jasmine may be the perfect match for you.

🏡 Come meet Jasmine today!

💙 Thankful Thursday 💙

A huge thank you to Petco Love for their generous donation of hundreds of dog collars to Dallas Animal Services!

Petco Love is a national nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of pets and the people who love them, and this donation will have an immediate impact here in Dallas.

Every day, our Animal Services Officers respond to calls involving loose, stray, and lost pets throughout the city. Having collars readily available helps officers safely secure dogs in the field, keep them safe during transport, and better assist them on their journey home or into our care.

Partnerships like this help ensure our team has the tools they need to protect pets and serve our community. We're incredibly grateful to Petco Love for investing in lifesaving work and supporting the animals of Dallas.

Thank you for helping us make a difference—one collar at a time! 🐾💙

🐾 Fix the Future 🐾

Spaying and neutering is one of the most effective ways to support pets, families, and our community.

By preventing unwanted litters, protecting your pet's health, and reducing shelter intake, this simple step can have a lasting impact across Dallas.

Did you know? City of Dallas Code requires dogs and cats over 6 months of age to be spayed or neutered unless they qualify for an exemption.

Need affordable options? Low-cost and free spay/neuter resources are available through organizations like TCAP and Spay Neuter Network.

Learn more and find resources at BeDallas90.org.

Together, we can help create a healthier future for pets in Dallas. ❤️

🐾 Take Snoop home! 🐾

Snoop is a 5-year-old gentleman who may seem a little reserved in his kennel, but don't let first impressions fool you—this handsome guy has a softer, more social side waiting to be discovered.

From our volunteer observations, Snoop appears to enjoy spending time with other dogs and engages in gentle, laid-back play when he's feeling comfortable. He walks nicely on leash, greets other dogs politely, and seems to appreciate a calm, easygoing environment where he can relax and be himself.

Like many shelter pets, Snoop may need a little time to warm up, but those who take the time to get to know him may find a loyal companion with a sweet personality.

🏡 Come meet Snoop today and give this deserving pup the chance to show you who he really is.

🌸🐾 Will You Help Baby Blossom? 🐾🌸

For over 44 days, Baby has been waiting patiently for someone to give her the chance she's been hoping for—a foster or forever home where she can finally feel safe, loved, and understood.

At 5 years old and 51 pounds, Baby is a gentle soul with a quiet heart. Shelter life can be overwhelming for shy dogs, and Baby is the kind of girl who needs a little extra time to get comfortable with new people and new surroundings. She's not going to be the dog who rushes up to greet everyone—but for the person willing to be patient, she may become something truly special.

Based on observations in playgroup, Baby seems to enjoy the company of other dogs and appears comfortable spending time with canine friends. A calm, confident dog companion may even help her continue building confidence as she adjusts to home life.

🌱 Trust doesn't happen overnight for Baby.
🌷 But every kind word, gentle touch, and patient moment could help her grow.
🌼 And with time, encouragement, and love, this sweet girl may blossom into a devoted companion.

Right now, Baby needs someone willing to see beyond her shyness and believe in the dog she's capable of becoming.

🏡 Can you foster?
❤️ Can you adopt?
📣 Can you share her story?

After more than 44 days of waiting, Baby deserves the chance to bloom in a home of her own.

Marshmallow ! 🤍🐾

If you're looking for a loyal companion who just wants to be by your side, Marshmallow might be your perfect match.

This sweet, gentle girl loves attention and seems happiest when she's soaking up pets, cuddles, and quality time with her people. From our volunteer observations, Marshmallow walks nicely on leash and has a calm, well-mannered presence that makes spending time with her a joy. In fact, she'd often rather receive affection from a human friend than a tasty treat!

Marshmallow may prefer slow introductions when meeting other dogs, but she's consistently shown a soft, loving personality with people and seems to enjoy a relaxed pace of life.

💕 Looking for a cuddle buddy? Come meet Marshmallow today and see if she's the missing piece of your family.

Happy Tails, Sugarplum! 💕🐾

Sugarplum's journey began when she and her mom were found roaming the streets of Dallas in December 2023. As an older puppy, she arrived at the shelter shy and uncertain about the world around her. But it didn't take long for her sweet, gentle personality to shine through.

When Sugarplum left for what was supposed to be a foster home, something magical happened. In less than 12 hours, her foster family knew one thing for certain: she wasn't going anywhere. ❤️

Today, Sugarplum is living the life every rescue dog deserves. She's a spoiled Dallas girl with an impressive toy collection, a bed in every room, and absolutely no understanding of personal space—especially since she's convinced she's a lap dog! 😆

She spends her days making new friends, exploring, playing, going on long walks, and faithfully following her people wherever they go. Best of all, she shares her happy life with her pittie rescue sister, Bonnie.

From a shy stray to a cherished family member, Sugarplum's story is a beautiful reminder of how life-changing fostering and adoption can be.

Thank you to her wonderful family for opening your hearts and giving her the forever home she always deserved! 🩷

✨ Every day, dogs like Sugarplum are waiting for someone to give them a chance. Whether you adopt, foster, volunteer, or share their stories, you can help change a life. Visit our available dogs and see who might be waiting for you.
