It’s beautiful little Albany. I took this picture yesterday. I didn’t spend much time in the chicken yard today. I spent my time in the front yard. I had a very small project that I wanted to do in the front yard, and Penny gave me some money for Mother’s Day to help make it happen. She wasn’t aware of what I wanted to do. She gave me some hanging baskets of Vincas plus the money. Anyway, you know I love Zinnias. I wanted to fix a round flower bed just for zinnias. I had the vision, but I have no stamina. If it wasn’t for Chief, I couldn’t have done it. But…I did help quite a bit. I have my seeds sowed and now we wait to see if they sprout. I’ll put a picture in the comment section below to show how it turned out. I wanted it round. But we moved and moved and moved those blocks until we had to give in with it just slightly off. I purchased a California giant seed mix. In looking at the package, I was surprised to see they grow up to 48” tall. We shall see what happens. But that’s some pretty tall flowers. The butterflies should come if the flowers do good. I hope I don’t have my hopes up too high. But I’m happy that my body was able to hold out long enough to help on this project. Sometimes one has to push oneself. No, it’s not always fun, but here’s hoping the end result will be worth it. So let’s begin this journey together. And I want to make posts about my beautiful Zinnias right here. Who will stay with me? Albany says she’s here as long as there’s peanuts involved. And I just happened to stop by Tractor Supply for peanuts today. I was completely out.
I’m not a morning person. But it is much cooler to do your work while the morning breezes blow. As I sat on the front porch this “morning” I realized every bird feeder was empty and had been empty a day or two. I was out of peanuts and all other forms of wild bird seed. It seemed as tho the birds were complaining to me- loudly. First it was a Red-headed woodpecker. When they make noise, it’s usually for some reason. I saw where he was flying back and forth. I said, “I think he’s scolding me.” Then the Bluejays, squawking, then the Cardinals, the Tanagers, the wrens, and I realized then that I would not let the day end with empty bird feeders. The birds quieted down this afternoon after I filled up the feeders. Nothing quite like getting scolded by a woodpecker. 🤣
Don’t forget I’m still trying for 100 likes per post. I think Darcy got 58. Let’s see how many Albany gets.
Love ya,
~Eva~
Check the comments for a picture of my flower bed that drained my strength. (Stupid pain in my sacroiliac.)
