🐾 NOW ACCEPTING REGISTRATION — JANUARY 2027 PROFESSIONAL MENTORSHIP COHORT!
Have you ever considered becoming a professional dog trainer? Or perhaps you’re already working with dogs and want to expand your knowledge of canine behavior, handling, training methodology, and the business side of the industry?
I’m excited to announce that Fulton Strong K9 is now accepting applications for our January 2027 Professional Mentorship Program here at Fulton Ranch in Homosassa, Florida!
Over the years, one of the things I’ve enjoyed most about working with dogs has been educating the people behind the leash. Training dogs is only one component of this profession. Understanding behavior, recognizing how the environment influences learning, communicating effectively with owners, and developing the ability to problem-solve are equally important.
This mentorship was developed to bridge the gap between learning about dog training and actually applying that knowledge in real-world situations.
WHAT MAKES THIS PROGRAM DIFFERENT?
This is not a traditional dog training class or a weekend certification course. Our mentorship is a structured, one-on-one educational experience that incorporates canine behavior, applied behavior analysis, learning theory, practical handling, professional development, and individualized instruction.
Participants work directly with me and our dogs at the ranch, building practical skills while developing a deeper understanding of why behaviors occur and how to approach training thoughtfully.
🐕 THREE LEVELS OF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
LEVEL I — Professional Foundations
A two-month mentorship focused on learning theory, marker training, reinforcement, leash handling, obedience, foundational behavior modification, equipment, and effective communication with clients.
LEVEL II — Advanced Professional & Business
Building upon Level I, this four-month pathway introduces advanced handling, drive development, behavior analysis, client coaching, training program development, pricing, policies, and the practical considerations of operating a dog training business.
LEVEL III — Working Dog & Advanced Handler
Our complete six-month mentorship includes Levels I and II before progressing into working dog development, genetics, drive systems, advanced reward handling, working breeds, and handler development.

📅 January 2027 Cohort
🐾 Two Saturdays per month
⏰ 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM
🎓 Individualized, one-on-one instruction
📚 Written learning materials, homework, and assessments
🐕 Hands-on experience with real dogs
🏅 Completion certificates awarded upon successfully meeting program requirements
Throughout the mentorship, participants complete both written and practical assessments. My goal is not simply to have someone attend classes and receive a certificate. I want participants to leave with a stronger understanding of behavior, improved practical skills, and the confidence to continue developing professionally.
You do not need to own a training business or have years of experience to begin. Whether you’re exploring a future career, already working professionally, or simply want to become a more knowledgeable handler, there is an opportunity to build upon your existing experience.
Enrollment is intentionally limited to preserve the individualized nature of the program. Applications and an initial interview are required.

I look forward to welcoming our next group of students and continuing to share the knowledge and experiences I’ve gained throughout my years working with dogs and studying behavior.
