One month ago, my prognosis was poor; I was diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia and osteoarthritis. My rescue was told to keep me comfortable and find a palliative care or hospice foster.
I am Missy, a dog that "works through the pain”. I push through physical discomfort because my strong bond with people motivates me .
The affection I feel for a human companion; and my love for people outweighs my physical pain. My life is ALMOST full. I am looking for a lifetime of love to share.... with my OWN person. Could that be you?

Update: He is really a good puppy, obedient and doesn't bark much. Family say's he looks to be neutered also, but not sure. We can not take him, and the family who has him can not keep him. We have reached out to other rescues who are also full and have no fosters. However, Hobart Humane Society has offered to take him and the family will be taking him there tomorrow. So if anyone is interested please contact them after tomorrow.

Found 4-6 month old puppy found on Chase street in Gary, Indiana. No Microchip. Please share. He is not with our rescue he is with the person who found him, who can not hold him for long.

Hospice/Pallative care Foster needed.
Missy has very severe hip dysplasia and osteoarthritis. Her knees are bone on bone. Inspite of her hip and knees.... she is a happy, loveable dog and she still gets around well. Surgery is not an option, her knees would also need surgery along with her hips. The pain she would incur with multiple surgeries done at different times was not recommended by our vet. The plan is to keep her on anti-inflammatories, pain meds, and Glucosamine and Chondroitin right now. We will be implementing a hip brace that has helped other dogs we rescued that had hip dysplasia.

We are hoping we will be able to find a foster who can give her the loving care that she never ever had. A quiet home where she can take short walks, sun bathe in the back yard ( she loves that ) , lay on a cozy bed and cuddle with her foster. We are glad we rescued her so that she can experience love and care she has never had in her life. As long as she has a good quality of life we will not euthanize. It's hard to know when that time will come. It could be years or months from now. If you can not be her foster for her lifetime, that's okay. Please just give us time to find another. Missy is a sweet pittie that loves belly rubs. She is a couch potato. She is calm and well behaved. Housetrained. She gets along well with low key submissive dogs, however because of her condition we are looking for a home with no other animals. She can free roam without getting into things.

We will provide all of her medications , food and anything else that she needs. You provide the love.

She must have a fenced in yard, and would do best in a home where someone is home more. Although she is good with children, she must go to a home with older children. No other dogs in the home is preferred. We are located in Northwest Indiana and a foster home should be within a 1 hr drive. Please message the page for more information.

Foster Home Needed
Meet Norah. Norah loves all people, she is well behaved, can be energetic at times but mostly calm when other dogs are not around.

She can be reactive to other dogs she does not know. She would do best in a home without other dogs, or a home that has one very submissive low key dog. She loves one dog here, and tolerates the others. The dog she loves is June. ❤ Our paralysed dog in diapers. She plays very gently with June. So she can read dogs really well. She is not aggressive with dogs, but if she feels threatened through barking or growling she will react.
She is up to date on all vaccinations and spayed. We provide everything for our foster homes, you just provide the love. For more information on fostering Norah, please message the page, do not post here. Norah is located in Northwest Indiana

Our best boy Buddy is still here. When we say he is the best we really mean it. ❤ He always has a smile on his face . He is a chilled and calm boy, very well behaved just loves to hang around the house and doesn't ask for anything but your love. He is 6 years old, 45 pounds, in good health, and ready to go to his forever home after he has his teeth cleaning done at the vets on December 5th. Those pearly whites will be shining as bright as his personality 🥰

UPDATE: FOSTER FOUND

Foster Home Needed for Cocker Spaniel Puppy ❤🙏🙏🙏🙏

This puppy was born with congenital cataracts. He can see fine he is not blind. There was a litter of 6 and we assisted the breeder in finding them homes. We found homes for 5 of them. This is Rex and he is the only one left. He is still at the breeders all alone. We have had applications on him, however no good ones that we would approve. So we are going to bring him into our rescue if we can find a foster. He lives in a kennel now in a barn, looking for a foster that is home more, and lives within 1 hr of Grovertown. The foster does not need a fenced in yard, however anyone interested in adopting a fence is required, as he gets old he may be visually impaired or go blind. We will provide everything he needs. He is only 10 weeks old. We need to get him out of there.

We have been asked to assist with the rehoming of some special-needs puppies by the breeder. They are posted on our website www.indianasaveadog.com. You will need to fill out an application.

This litter of cocker spaniel puppies have congenital cataracts. We are assisting the breeder in finding them homes. There are 4 females / 2 males.

Puppies born with congenital cataracts can improve as they mature. Right now they have small dots of cloudiness on their eyes. When the area of cloudiness on the lens remains the same size, by the time the puppy becomes an adult, the affected portion of the lens is relatively small. By adulthood, many dogs born with cataracts are able to compensate and see "around" the cloudiness. Treatment may not be necessary until a high degree of vision is lost and cataracts become problematic for the pup. A cataract may affect only a portion of the lens and consequently, some dogs show few signs at all. Cataracts that covers the entire lens may still allow some vision, so the pup can “see” around the cloudy portion. The only known effective treatment for cataracts is surgery. This may be necessary to prevent blindness when they are older or sometimes the cataracts can be painful.

A fenced in yard is required for this puppy , no children under the age of 8 in the household, and someone that is home more and has the time to care for a special needs puppy. The puppy has received 1st vaccines. Adoption fee is $25. A refundable spay/neuter deposit of $75.00 is also required. They are located in Shipshewana, Indiana
