Sharing an update from Mickey.. who stole our hearts 3 years ago with his red bow tie when we were targeted by 🤣 it worked. Mickey waited shy of 3 years for his moment. He moved to Chicago earlier this year with his forever family. His mom gave us an update on how he’s doing…see below 💜
Mickey has officially settled into Chicago suburban life these last two months, and it’s already hard to imagine life before him! Most days are filled with neighborhood walks, squirrel patrol, meeting neighbors (human and dog alike), and helping him settle into his new routines and world.
He thrives on routine and will absolutely let us know if dinner is running late. He LOVES car rides and is convinced every nearby car is there to pick him up personally. We’ve already taken him to Michigan and for his first Chicago beach visit, which he absolutely loved, and we’re excited for more water adventures this summer.
Mickey is happiest close to his people and has fully embraced having work-from-home parents. Every morning starts with his required massage and stretch, and every day includes plenty of walks, toys, enrichment, and attention. He gets what we call “mini zooms,” whenever he comes back from a walk. As soon as the leash comes off he will race once around the couch and the immediately lay down like nothing happened. He always lets us clean his paws first 🙂 So patient.
When the weather is nice, he loves lounging on the patio in the sun. Otherwise, he’s usually curled up on the couch or burrowed completely under a blanket. At night, he tucks himself into bed and slowly expands across the entire mattress while snoring, dreaming, and occasionally howling in his sleep.
He’s been completely spoiled by friends, family, and neighbors with treats, toys, and lots of love. And even won over the hearts of previous pibble skeptics.
We’ll start working with a trainer next month, mostly for us humans to make sure we’re fluent in Mickey’s language and supporting him in the best way possible! He’s brought an incredible amount of personality, laughter, and love into our lives already, and we feel soooo lucky he’s part of our family ❤️
