It's Fall, Y'all!
The fall festival is going on now at the Covington Square and Newton County Animal Services and Newton County Paws & Purpose Inc. are currently there with a few of the pups that are in the most need of adoption. The weather is perfect and they are waiting to meet you! While the shelter closes at 1pm, NCAS and NCPP will still be out there!

We couldn’t end Bosses day without acknowledging the person that keeps us all together.

Happy Bosses Day to Director Levendusky. Without you, all of the events, all of the newly implemented systems and ideas, wouldn’t be possible. Your dedication to the animals and staff does not go unnoticed. Employee morale has gone up tremendously, more animals are being adopted, and when all of us clock out at 5pm, we know we did a good job- because you keep us going as a team.
Thank you for being our Director. Thank you for caring as much as you do. And thank you for answering our phone calls on the weekends! We hope you had a great day!

Newton County Animal Services would like to wish a very Happy Bosses Day to Sergeant Ruffner and Sergeant Maneval!

Sergeant Ruffner is the Field Supervisor and for several years has shown consistent dedication to his team of Officers and the animals at the shelter. The officers have flourished with his guidance and we could not ask for a better professional to lead the team!

Sergeant Maneval is the shelter supervisor and every day shows compassion and dedication to the animals in our care. With her as the shelter supervisor, animals are receiving care in a timely manner when it is needed and with her help the shelter has implemented daily play groups! There is no doubt about how much she loves each and every animal that comes into the shelter!

Thank you to both of these amazing individuals for without them the shelter would not be what it is today!

This is not a drill!!! Our girl Hope, who came to NCAS in March of this year, was FINALLY ADOPTED. She was so excited; she couldn’t hold still for her photo-op. But that’s not all! Her wonderful new paw-rents also adopted Lola, so now Hope has a built-in bestie that matches her playful energy! Thank you to this wonderful family for seeing how wonderful Hope is (& Lola) and opening their home to two new dogs! ❤️

🚨URGENT ANNOUCEMENT FROM NEWTON COUNTY ANIMAL SERVICES 🚨
Due to the spread of illness in the Cat room, starting on Thursday 10/8, all cat intakes will be stopped until further notice. This includes STRAYS and SURRENDERS. Emergencies will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. If you bring a cat into the shelter, you will be asked to bring it back to where it was found until further notice.

Today, the shelter received a very special letter from a local student. NCAS does not receive letters like this very often and we were thrilled that this student took their time to write to us with their kind words. We will, of course, be sending a letter back! Thank you to this student- it made our day.
If you are a student that wishes to reach out to the shelter via mail or email, especially for a school assignment, we will gladly accept your letter and send one in return!

What a fun day at Newton County Animal Services. With the help of Community Partnership, the shelter was able to hold their first Read with the Pets at the shelter. Several adults and children visited the shelter today to read to the cats and some dogs and they had a blast! Many dogs were seen relaxing completely while being read to. We hope to see many more of these readings in the future!
