🚨PSA to all the handlers that love to wrap that leash around their hands. Quit it.

Also, pls excuse my horrible recording skills.

I often get asked how to work with two dogs in the same space while taking turns training and playing.

Start small, keep distractions low, and use place, a down stay, or a tether to help one dog succeed while you work with the other. Consistency and follow through are key!

I like to work one dog’s duration down while the other gets to play. It’s a great way to build impulse control and teach dogs that they don’t always have to be the one doing the fun thing.

Koa and Zeke crushed their first time working this around each other!

Swipe through for a little recap of what last week looked like with the OC Pup Pals crew going through training!

From structured walks and public outings to confidence building, engagement work, neutrality around distractions, and real-life practice… every dog made progress in their own way this week 🙌🏽

No two dogs are the same, which means no two training journeys look the same either. But consistency, patience, and clear guidance always add up.

Here’s a little recap of what our week looked like behind the scenes. Thank you to all of our amazing clients for trusting us with your dogs and allowing us to be part of the process!

Watching dogs gain real freedom in their everyday lives will always be the most rewarding part of what we do!

Not because they learned a command perfectly but because their world becomes bigger with more outings, experiences, trust, and connection with their people.

Juni’s progress is such a good reminder that training is about so much more than obedience. It’s about helping dogs learn how to exist comfortably in the world around them.

Doing nothing is one of the most underrated (and most important!) skills you can teach your dog.

Teaching a dog to settle, observe the world, and simply be builds patience, emotional regulation, and confidence. It helps prevent over-stimulation, reactivity, and that constant “go go go” mindset so many dogs fall into.

The goal isn’t to exhaust your dog every day. The goal is to fulfill and to teach them how to turn off when nothing is happening.

And honestly, those calm, quiet moments together might be our favorite part of life with our dogs. ✨
