Meet Ellie Grace. 🐾 And friends, she might be the best puppy I've ever had in this room.

Usually I'm fending off chewed furniture, inappropriate snacks, and a puppy who needs three balls tossed just to make it through a conversation with her parents. Not this girl. Ellie Grace quietly played by herself. Snoozed while we talked. I caught myself glancing over at her every ten minutes just sighing, because she was just that good. Oh, that and she has puppy breath. Who doesn’t love puppy breath!?!

This is Power to the Puppy in action – a golden puppy with a vigilant mom who's doing the work early, determined to minimize the health risks that plague this breed before they ever become a problem.

We're off for a little Fall Break! 🍂🐾

A few days to recharge, reset, and perhaps enjoy a few extra snoozes. (We think this pup has the right idea! 💤)

Here's our schedule:

🍂 Tuesday, October 13 – Closing early at 1pm
🍂 October 14–15 – Clinic closed
🐾 Monday, October 19 – Back in the office!

We'll look forward to seeing you and your four-legged family members when we're back.

Halloween candy starts showing up in houses weeks before the actual day – which means the risk to your dog starts way before October 31st too. A few things worth doing now, before the bowl fills up: 🎃

1. Skip xylitol entirely. Xylitol is the sugar-free sweetener that will kill your dog – it's in a huge chunk of "sugar-free" candy and gum, and even one piece can be fatal. If it's in your house, get it out or lock it up. This one is non-negotiable.

2. Store chocolate somewhere your dog genuinely can't get to. And know your dog – some pups won't touch a countertop, others will launch themselves at it like it's an Olympic event. Upper cabinets or a closed pantry shelf, not just "out of sight."

Get ahead of it now, and Halloween stays fun for everyone – dogs included. 🐾

Coconut oil for dogs? There's more to it than you might think. 🥥🐾

Those MCTs aren't just a trendy buzzword.

Coconut oil can be a useful part of a whole-dog approach, with potential roles in:
🐾 Gut and digestive support
🐾 Immune support
🐾 Liver support
🐾 Metabolic health

One thing that doesn't get talked about enough: MCTs are digested differently than long-chain fats, which makes coconut oil easier on an inflamed pancreas or liver – often useful territory when those organs are already working overtime.

But as with everything we give our pets, more isn't necessarily better. The right amount depends on the individual dog and what we're trying to accomplish.

Sometimes a simple pantry staple can be surprisingly useful.
