What I need to be understood- vulnerable post.
I’ve been there for dogs who have scratched or even pierced my flesh, without holding any resentment toward that pup. I showed nothing but love, balancing urgency with the patience needed to find a mutual understanding between the dog and I. I always aimed to make grooming more tolerable, respecting their boundaries and doing what was best for that specific pup.
Yet, I was met with owners who wouldn't even wait up for me during sickness, hard times, and depression. I’ve looked dogs in the eyes, not knowing it would be the last time I’d ever see them—which is incredibly sad. I poured my soul into getting to know those pups, practicing my best grooming mannerisms to make them feel at ease in my care. Without any hesitation, an owner chooses to leave because they cannot respect that I won’t always be perfectly healthy.
The dog then gets passed to another groomer, who might view them as nothing more than a dollar sign. All because an owner couldn’t respect that I’m more than just a groomer. I’m a mother of three kids under four years old, a daughter, a sister, a girlfriend, a friend, and so much more. I’m your dog’s favorite groomer—the one who actually cares about their well-being. I was once your 5 star groomer and now I am your one star.
It hurts the soul to see such a lack of compassion. It hurts the soul immensely. I truly hope these dogs can be understood the way I took the time to learn and respect them, and that no damage is done.
I love my job, don’t get me wrong. It just hurts at times. I’m human, a single-ran and owned small business. I’m trying. Trust me I want to feel better, and it’s going to happen soon. Thank you❤️🩹
