🇺🇸 Never Forget. 🇺🇸

Today we pause to remember the lives lost, the heroes who showed incredible courage, and the families whose lives were forever changed.

September 11, 2001 — always remembered, never forgotten. ❤️🤍💙

🕊️ We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

🚨 WE ARE ONE KENNEL AWAY FROM AN INTAKE HOLD. 🚨

One. ONE DOG KENNEL.

We are at capacity, and this is what that means for our community:

🐾 If you call Animal Control to pick up a dog, there is a very real chance that when that dog’s time is up, we will not have a kennel available to take them.

🐾 If you have an owner surrender situation, we will not be able to take your dog. It won’t matter what the circumstances are. We simply will not have the space.

🐾 We know emergencies happen. We plan for them. But when every kennel is full, we cannot take an emergency dog either. And that is heartbreaking.

And cats? We have ZERO open cat kennels.

We are one adoption away from breathing a tiny bit easier—and until we have adoptions that are finalized and animals have actually left the building, we have to prepare for an intake hold.

We HATE this. We are heartbroken to have to say it. 💔

But we cannot safely care for more animals than we have room for. Capacity means capacity. Overcapacity means stress for animals and staff and possible spread of disease.

So if you have been thinking about adopting, fostering, or even sharing one of our animals, NOW is the time. You can apply to adopt or foster on our website at www.stephenscountyshelter.com.

Please help us share this. We need our community right now. ❤️🐾

Pic is Primrose who has been in our care since 11/1/2024.
