A horse that appears to pull itself forward with the front end rather than pushing from behind.

INSTEAD OF MOVING FREELY.

DONT JUST LOOK AT THE HIND LEGS. LOOK AT THE WHOLE HORSE.
Hind-end engagement depends on the interaction of hind limbs + pelvis + back + saddle + rider. If a horse suddenly stops engaging, don’t simply push it harder-first consider whether pain, lameness, saddle fit, hoof balance, or another physical restriction could be contributing. Wendy’s approach specifically looks at the feet, back, rider and gear together when evaluating biomechanics.
