Jaxon is a 4-year-old neutered male weighing 67 lbs, heartworm negative, and described as gentle and dainty-tolerant in playgroup.
Jaxson was surrendered by his owner due to lack of space and time, but he’s proven to be a sweet and affectionate companion who thrives on interaction.
Jaxon is easy to leash and walks with a mild pull with a loose, relaxed posture. In the play yard, he solicits attention, enjoys cruising around, and responds well to commands like sit.
He’s shown interest in other dogs and allows petting all over. Volunteers have have noted a bit of reaction to other dogs while walking through kennels to yard
PER NOTE
Per volunteer: Jaxon was easy to leash and he walked with a slight pull on the way to the yard. He was reactive to a couple dogs along the way. He was very playful in the yard and chased after and returned with every toy I threw him. He was also treat motivated and would sit for (if prompted a couple times) and accept treats gently. He enjoyed licking some whipped cream off of a plate. He is friendly and allowed for all pets, from head to tail, but he was really more interested in playing with the toys than with me. On the return, Jaxon had a stronger pull towards the other dogs and was reactive towards several. He was easy to unleash in his kennel.
According to his previous owner, Jaxon is partially house trained, prefers a harness for walks, and finds comfort in his crate. He gets excited when meeting new people and may jump, so supervision around small children is recommended. He lived peacefully with two smaller dogs and does well meeting dogs in public. Jaxon should not be left alone in a yard, as he’s known to jump fences to go explore. He loves chase games, toys, rolling in the dirt, and long naps.
In the shelter, Jaxon has shown signs of stress and anxiety in his kennel, but outside of it he’s calm, treat-motivated, and affectionate. He needs a home where he can decompress, enjoy companionship, and continue to show the loving personality that shines through when he’s given space and attention.
Please consider opening your home to Jaxon. He’s ready to leave the shelter behind and start fresh in a place where he can feel safe and loved.
