One of the things I’ve realized after years of having a ridiculous number of different animals is that people ask me a LOT of questions about getting animals to live together. 😂

“How did you get your dog and cat to get along?”

“How do you keep your cat from bothering your rats?”

“How do you introduce a new animal?”

“Why is my animal suddenly acting completely different?”

“How do I get my nervous animal to trust me?”

And honestly, I love these questions.

I’ve never been a big believer in forcing animals to interact just because we want them to be friends. I want them to be able to feel safe, understand boundaries, and learn that the other animal isn’t something they need to fear—or chase—or constantly worry about.

I’ve had animals who grew up together, animals who needed very careful introductions, animals who absolutely did NOT become best friends but learned to peacefully coexist, and animals who surprised me completely.

I’ve also learned that sometimes the most important part of helping animals get along is understanding what they are actually communicating.

So I’m going to start sharing more of the things I’ve learned along the way.

Because apparently, after collecting half a zoo, I’ve become the person people call when their animals are having relationship problems. 😂🐾

And honestly?

I’m okay with that.

Big changes are still coming as I enter this new phase of life - motherhood! Wanderlust Spirit Acres is a Colorado-based animal adventure built around one simple idea: animals make life better. ❤️

We’re home to a wonderfully eclectic collection of animals and offer mobile petting zoo experiences, animal education, and opportunities to learn more about the creatures we share our lives with.

I’m particularly passionate about helping people understand animal behavior, build relationships with their animals, and create harmonious multi-animal households.

This page is where I’ll share our animals, adventures, educational content, and eventually new ways for me to help other animal lovers with the animals in their lives.
