Pine Grove Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs Pine Grove Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs Hi there- I am an almost Colorado Springs native with a love and passion for everything Swissy. Stay tuned….

I began my journey 15 years ago with my first GSMD Nellee. I instantly fell in love and have been showing and breeding for 12 years now. We just had our 23rd litter of puppies. My dogs are a part of our family and although I appreciate a strong “working drive” in our breed, I will not compromise working drive for a poor temperament. As a mother of 3 little boys I will not tolerate aggressive or timid dogs. Health clearances and conformation are also very important to me and I do both, BUT temperament is right up there when making my breeding decisions. I want your future Swissy to be a confident and bold, yet easy-going member of your family. I only breed a couple times a year and I have a waitlist and require deposits for my future litters. So please, if you are interested in a Pine Grove puppy fill out an application today and follow us on Facebook. I admit that I am not very good about keeping the website current. However on Facebook you will see all of our most recent news as well as invites to our next dog show or puppy Open House. These events are an excellent opportunity to meet us and our dogs. I also encourage you to do your research before filling out an application. Make sure this is the right breed for you! Take time to visit the GSMD Info tab at the top. Visit the GSMDCA.org website and familiarize yourself with ALL of the working activities and AKC events your dog can enjoy and compete in. My dogs are bred with purpose. Yes they make great family pets, but they are capable of so much more. Anytime a family expresses an interest in competing or working on titles like pack hike, drafting, herding, obedience, rally, confirmation and so on. I TAKE NOTICE - your application usually goes right to the top of the stack - wink wink- I will be posting updates on all of my dogs including my next litter of puppies which are due Spring 2024 ….

Scientists have uncovered a potential explanation for why some dogs experience seizures and other neurological issues after taking common flea and tick medications like Bravecto, NexGard, Credelio, Simparica, and Revolution. Real-world reports show that certain dogs, especially puppies, older dogs, or those with genetic vulnerabilities, can develop tremors, seizures, or other nervous system problems. The study suggests that these drugs may reach the brain through a “back door” pathway called centripetal (retrograde) axonal transport, bypassing the usual protective blood brain barrier. Additionally, certain chemical additives in the medications, such as PFAS compounds, may increase this risk by helping the drugs enter nerve cells or acting as neurotoxic agents themselves. Overall, this research highlights a previously underappreciated nerve pathway that could explain why some dogs are more susceptible to neurological side effects from flea and tick treatments.
