Ok, I have spent the majority of the afternoon sucked into reading about politics after not reading about politics for a while... and then to the site formerly known as Twitter where I took a glance at a old conservative "friend's" tweets for the past few days.
I'm hung up on one of those tweets now.
So, both posted and supposedly recorded on April 22nd, it was a video taken through a cell phone camera of a guy in his mid-30s/40s(?), jeans and a button-up shirt. Yes, my memory is s**t when it comes to what the guy looks like. But, really, it's not what he looked like that bothered me.
It's what he did.
On video, mind you, he stated the date -- "April 22nd" -- and then proceeded to lean over and pull the cord to start the chainsaw laying on the ground. Then he started the lawn mower next to the chainsaw. And then, the leaf blower next to it. There was a line of outdoor equipment, trucks, cars, etc. and he went, one by one, down this line of gasoline-powered machines turning them all on. At the end, he pulled out a piece of cardboard paper from the truck that he had just turned on and showed the camera what was written: Happy Earth Day!
The question I have is _why_? What was his purpose and motivation to do this?
Is this what's called "owning the libs"? I mean, there's a reason for him starting all the things that spew pollutants, right? At the end, he says it's Earth day, so he's turning on all these machines, why? Because he can do whatever the hell he wants to and pollute the air? So, he's sticking it to them libs by ... what again? Wasting gasoline that he paid for (and will have to replace himself)?
When... back in realityland, a few more minutes of exhaust probably wouldn't make a difference to anyone but himself because he's the one who had to put actual effort into turning on the 19-20 items in the line. And then, even though it wasn't on video, we know he had to go through and turn them all off afterwards, right?
Is this what the Republican Party is now?
I mean, what's my reaction actually supposed to be? _"Oh, that Billy Bob Howdy! He sure showed me by turning on all those engines that he's going to have to turn off."_
Or just call him a dips**t and move on.
I'm going back to not reading about politics.
