This week’s spotlight shines on sweet little Macey! 🐾💕

Macey is relatively new to the Barkberry Spa family, but she has already stolen my heart. She is such a sweet little nugget & an absolute joy to spend time with during her spa days. From her gentle personality to her adorable face, she’s quickly becoming a favorite around here!

I’m also incredibly grateful for her wonderful family, who have been such a pleasure to get to know. And a special thank you to Steve C. for the PAWsome referral! Referrals are one of the greatest compliments I can receive, & I truly appreciate the trust you place in me to care for your beloved pups.

I have to give a huge shoutout to a dear client & friend from the Mentor/Painesville Township area, who I’ve been doing mobile grooming for over the past 9 years. I make the trip every couple of months for her sweet dog, Butter (yes… Butter 🧈😂), which is actually where I originally got the OG nickname for MY Butter from! They are so similar in color, coat texture, & pure cuteness. 🥹 see, she gets horrible car sickness. Worst I’ve ever witnessed.

When I arrived for her appointment, she lovingly offered me a cup of coffee.. & honestly, why would I ever say no to coffee? ☕️ The second I tasted it, I said it was the “WORLD’S BEST CUP OF COFFEE!” 🎉

A little while later she asked, “Will you be okay here by yourself for a bit?” I said, “Of course! I’ll be here at least an hour and a half!”

She came back… with a whole Nespresso machine for me. 😭 with pods! An early Christmas 🎄 gift and a thank you for always making the 50-minute drive. I was completely shook. I really don’t mind the drive. It clears my head & I listen to music! 🎶

Moments like this remind me how lucky I am to have the kindest, most thoughtful people in my life & business. Thank you, Amy, for your generosity, friendship, & years of support & generous tips. I love you dearly & cherish you so much. My life is forever changed for the better! ☕️

✨ Barkberry Spotlight of the Week: Sophie! ✨ ✌🏽

This week’s spotlight goes to Sophie, a spunky 2-year-old black Labradoodle who is officially home from Florida & thankfully back at Barkberry! ☀️✈️🐾

🐕‍🦺Sophie is full of fun, personality, and happy girl energy.. & when she’s with her sissy Sadie, these two are truly 2 peas in a pod! 🫛🤍 From playing together to sticking side-by-side, their sister bond is the sweetest thing to see.

We are so happy to have these sunshine girls back in Ohio for their Barkberry spa days! ☀️ ☔️ 🐾

🚨🦨SKUNK SEASON IS HERE 🚨🦨

If your pup gets sprayed, timing is EVERYTHING. The sooner you treat the coat, the better your chances are of removing the oils before they fully absorb into the skin & coat. Ideally, you want to get the skunk solution on your dog within the first 10–15 minutes if possible.

Skunk spray is an oily substance that clings deeply to the fur and skin. Once it fully settles into the coat, that “eau de skunk” can linger for months, especially every time your dog gets wet, damp, or humid. ☔🐶

A few important Barkberry tips:

• Keep the solution OUT of the eyes, ears, and mouth
• Wear GLOVES 🧤 & a smock- the smell transfers easily
• Work the mixture thoroughly into the coat, especially the chest, legs, beard, & neck area
• DO NOT store the mixture once made - use immediately & discard the rest
🧺•Keep a basket of ingredients nearby to grab in a hurry
• Dry the dog completely afterward to help reduce lingering odor

And please… resist the tomato juice myth 🤣🍅 It rarely works the way people hope.

Hello Friends & lil nuggets! For the next few months, Barkberry’s social media will be slowing down a little bit 🐢 🐶

Life has been reminding me lately how important it is to protect our peace, prioritize our health, & be fully present for the people (& pups 🐾) we love most.

I’ve decided to take a small step back from constantly posting online (after 14 years) so I can spend more time focusing on:
🧘🏼‍♀️ my health
🧍🏼🐻🧸my family & friends
🧑🏻‍🍳 cooking & slowing down
🐾my sweet dogs
💍my marriage
🦋& simply being more present in everyday life

Barkberry is not going anywhere.. & neither am I. ✨ 🙏🏼

I’ll still be here sharing cozy educational tips, canine enrichment, wellness reminders, & occasional pup spotlights… just at a gentler pace.

Thank you for always supporting this little, but big business with such kindness & understanding. The heart behind Barkberry has always been about quality care, comfort, education, & connection - & that part will never change.
