Ellie update. Here she is being a sleepy girl with mom on the couch. 🥰
Mom had a great meeting with the behaviorist today. So long story….long. Ellie has been observed laying on her side, screaming. Anyone is familiar with huskies, knows the scream we are talking about. Immediately, our thought goes, is she in pain? Well not immediately out of the question today, she does not express any pain when examined. She’s has been evaluated by a vet for pain. Nothing was found at that time.
So after a million and one questions on life changes, the behaviorist asked if there has been any changes in her medication manufacturers? And lightbulb! 💡 The Clonidine medication changed for her last refill. Two things may be happening:
1. The medication is working less effectively than other manufacturers, or
2. The medication isn’t working at all
We are trialing a brief increase of dosage, and if that doesn’t work, we will try finding a manufacturer that works for her.
Bizarre. But being in the epilepsy world for so long, we understand manufacturers can truly affect how well medication works for some dogs.
We will keep you posted. Know Miss Ellie is happy and healthy. She just got back from her walkie with Mom.

Update: Posts that suggest a diagnosis will be deleted. If you post a diagnosis again, you will be blocked. We don’t have any diagnosis yet. Trust us, Ellie is under the best care. But we won’t tolerate the spread of misinformation as noted in the original post.

We are struggling with Ellie. Mom has already contacted the behaviorist and sent videos because something is off. If we had to venture a guess, her anti anxiety meds aren’t working for her anymore. She isn’t sleeping through the night again and her separation anxiety has caused her to have some very strange feelings. Ellie has always had big feelings when she’s home alone, but this is the worst we’ve seen her.
This is rare for us, but Mom is choosing not to share exact details for a few reasons. The main reason being, people on the internet that will come up with their own inaccurate opinions and share misinformation when they know nothing about Ellie nor have any animal behavior knowledge. Is it frustrating we’ve been putting forth so much time and effort to just be met with a chain of setbacks? 100%. All we can do is make adjustments to her treatment and hope she improves.

The most important things:
Overall, Ellie is happy.
The behaviorist, has all the information I can provide her right now to make decisions on treatment options.
Ellie is in a loving home that is trying to give her her best life possible.

If we find out more, we may share more information once we understand why she’s behaving this way.

Mom felt like I needed a trip so she took me to Lowe’s.
I had a seizure on Thursday. She didn’t love that it lasted over 4 minutes. That’s the longest seizure have had in a while. The good part is I only had the one seizure.

Ellie’s enjoying a little couch time as we wait for Mom’s car to be fixed.
We thought we would give you a little update on Ellie. Well, Gabapentin didn’t work as well as we thought it would. In true Ellie fashion, she powered through it. Mom gave her two 1200mg doses to try to get her knocked down and nope. The behavioral tech working with Ellie gave us the best analogy we’ve ever heard. She called Ellie, “the drunk girl at the bar that has no boundaries.” Meaning she was a little sedated, she was still up in every one’s business and was also very easily distracted by literally everything. Mom calls her Party Girl now.
The technician talked to the behaviorist because clearly Gabapentin was not the drug for Ellie. We are going to try Pregabalin next. This is actually the same medication I take for my seizures (you’ll also get a seizure update about me today).
