Canned Apple Butter Recipe (Makes 6 - 1/2 pints)

Ingredients
- 5lbs Apples
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 cup Sugar
- 1.5 TBSP cinnamon
- 1 tsp nutmeg
- 1/8 tsp ground cloves

Directions
- Peel, core and slice apples and put them in a crockpot. Add water. Turn on low for 6-8 hours stirring frequently.

- After 6 hours, add sugar and spices. Stir and let simmer another hour.

- Use a food processor or blender to puree the apple butter.

- Fill 1/2 pint jars with hot apple butter leaving a 1/4” headspace.

- Wipe off edges of the jars with vinegar and secure lids and rings finger tight.

- Place jars on the wire rack and lower them into the waterbath canner. Once it comes to a boil, cover and let it process the 1/2 pints for 15 minutes. 25 minutes for pints.

- Once done, take them out of the canner and let them sit on the counter for 12-24 hours before storing them. Any that don’t seal, put into the fridge to eat first.
