Pit Bulls in particular require a lot of exercise. One thing you can do to help your dog burn off more energy, is give them a Job. A simple job could be carrying items in a doggy back pack for you. Invite your pet to enjoy activities with you. Providing for your dog's needs in a joyful manner, will gain both the love and respect from your dog.

Having control of a dog without a leash and collar, is about the same as having medicine for a dog, but not giving it to them.

When you begin with a new puppy, by letting it outside without supervision, you are only inviting trouble. A dog with no boundaries or guidelines is not fostering a sense of safety and security for the pet.

The first thing a puppy needs, is to know where it belongs and feel safe there. This is achieved by giving them a walk around the perimeter of your yard, with a collar and a leash on. Then you pup will feel both loved and secure. Is there anything you'd want more?

A dog is not a piece of furniture, you can leave home all day long. A dog is a member of the family, who deserves and desires to be part of your outings, whenever possible. Puppies, in particular, are like teenagers, who require high energy exercise and interaction everyday.
If you are not willing to give your dog plenty opportunities for fun and exercise, you are better off buying a chair.
In the photos below, I took a pent up puppy, who was kept alone in a porch all day and night, out for a vigorous walk. She went to the lake and had Tons of Fun jumping in the waves and swimming. Soon, she began walking like a lady, and her nightly barking stopped. All it takes is a little time and energy to give these dogs a happy and balanced life.
