Gluten Free Sourdough!!!!!

My first ever attempt at a gluten free loaf. My oldest child has hashimotos and has been recommended a gluten free diet. That said… I’ll never stop baking. So I’m teaching myself gluten free baking! I decided to go big or go home. My first ever gluten free creation is a sourdough loaf!

The flour *claimed* you could use it measure for measure as a direct substitute, so I decided to test that theory with my sourdough loaf recipe I’ve played around with over the last couple months. That was a lie. I ended up adding a whopping 120 extra grams of water to get what I assume is the right consistency. I’ve got sliced it yet so I guess we’ll find out in the morning 😅😅

Oh, and to make the starter gluten free it’s an organic brown rice flour starter. Which does NOT look or feed like regular starter. I don’t even know if I’m doing that right either. It looks so weird.

Anyways, here’s my first gluten free sourdough attempt, pre slicing!

This one works up fast, but it’s still slow and steady because I’m using such a fine, soft yarn.

Happy and Mia at the vet… Happy is doing great! (Well, besides his neuro condition, but that is currently plateaued) and Mia is great except for the giant hematoma she has on her ear from smacking her ear running full speed into a metal ladder. (You can’t tell in this photo but she has giant bat ears.)

We have to bring her on Monday to have it drained out and stitched up 😭😭😭😭

Wish our sweet girl the best of luck! She had perfect bloodwork last week so I think her sedation will go well ♥️

I tried to see how much I could squeeze in during my evening after work- but I think it would’ve been more effective to focus on just one project rather than splitting my attention between two 😅

I started a new project while I was sick- it doesn’t hurt to have a couple going at a time!!!

I’m using the Caron Cake yarn for the first time and it’s a little small and slick but I’m getting the hang of it! I’m open to tips though!!!
