Here I’m practicing taking Hannah out of her crate. Hannah gets extremely excited and anxious before getting released from her crate. It’s important to be patient when releasing them from the crate, wait for calmness in the dog before allowing them to exit. This alone sets the tone for the rest of the interaction with the dog. If I allow the dog to be hyper at his crate door, then I automatically give the dog permission to be hyper at the front or back door. It translates to anxiousness and lack of assertiveness to the dog. If you need some help with an anxious dog in the crate, send me a message!
