Stray Intakes — Thursday, May 28 🐾

Do you recognize us? ❤️‍🩹

These animals were recently brought to MCACC and are currently in their required stray hold period while we work to reunite them with their families.

If you recognize one of them, please help spread the word and encourage the owner to visit the shelter in person during open hours.

As a reminder, stray animals are not available for adoption during their hold period. Please refrain from asking about adoption timing so our team can focus on reunification efforts.

A BIG thanks to Julianna with Montgomery County TN Parks and Recreation for hosting our very first firehose enrichment class! 🐾🚒

Together, we turned retired firehoses into enrichment toys for our shelter pets, and these toys went straight to the animals here at MCACC. If you couldn’t tell from the video… they LOVED them. ❤️🐶🐱

Thank you to those who came out, learned something new, and helped make a difference for our shelter pets today. We loved having everyone and already can’t wait for the next one.

More classes like this are coming soon, so stay tuned!

As a reminder, stray animals are placed on a mandatory hold while we attempt to locate owners. Please refrain from asking about adoption availability at this time so staff can focus on reunification efforts.

We’re incredibly excited to be part of this amazing regional partnership made possible through continued funding from the PEDIGREE Foundation and led by Williamson County Animal Center. 🐾🐶

This program is designed to help keep pets in their homes by offering free behavioral training support for dog owners who may be struggling with common challenges like leash pulling, chewing, potty accidents, jumping, and more.

Many families don’t want to surrender their pets - they just need a little extra guidance and support. Through this grant, qualifying pet owners may be connected with free training resources and local trainers to help work through those challenges before surrender or a returned adoption becomes the only option.

We’re grateful to Williamson County Animal Center for including us in this collaborative effort alongside other middle Tennessee shelters, rescues, and trainers working toward better outcomes for pets and people alike. 💙

More information on how this program will work locally - including eligibility and next steps - will be shared soon!

A renewed grant will allow Williamson County Animal Center and partner shelters to continue free dog behavior training services.

🎾 Hi, I’m Lucky. And honestly… I think I’m pretty good at this whole “being a dog” thing.

I’m around 3 years old, full of energy, and would LOVE an active home that can keep up with me. Fetch is basically my full-time job, toys are my favorite thing ever, and treats? Immediate best friend material. 😋

I’ve been pretty neutral around other dogs here, so I may do well in a home with another pup. I also really like people—I just get excited about life and would benefit from some continued leash training and structure to help me be my very best self. I’m smart, food motivated, and eager to learn. 💚

I came in as a stray and sadly no one ever came for me. Now I’ve been here for 22 days just waiting for someone to finally see me. Black dogs are often some of the most overlooked pets in shelters, so my friends wanted to give me a little extra spotlight time. ✨

The good news? I’m already neutered, which means I could go home the very same day you meet me.

Come throw a ball for me sometime… maybe it could be the start of forever. 🥹🐶🖤

Stray intakes — Sunday–Tuesday, May 24–26 🐾

Several animals came into our care over the past couple of days and are currently going through their mandatory stray hold while we work to reunite them with their families.

Please continue sharing our stray posts — every share helps increase visibility and gives these pets a better chance of making it back home. If you recognize one of them, please encourage the owner to contact or visit the shelter during open hours.

As a reminder:
• Strays without microchips are held for 3 days
• Strays with registered microchips are held for 5 days

We kindly ask that the public refrain from asking about adoption availability on stray posts so staff can focus on reunification efforts first. Thank you for helping us help them. 💚

Found a stray animal? Please bring them to the shelter safely. 🐾

We know people want to help when they find an animal in need, and we’re grateful for that. But how animals are transported to the shelter matters more than many people realize.

For the safety of the animal, our staff, and the public, please use secure and ventilated containers whenever possible. Dogs should also be brought in with a secure leash and properly fitted collar.

✅ Safe options:
- Pet carriers
- Humane traps
- Secure crates
- Ventilated totes with air holes
- Dogs safely secured on a leash

🚫 Unsafe transport methods:
- Pillowcases or tied bags
- Closed totes without airflow
- Loose animals in vehicles
- Weak or unsecured boxes

Proper transport helps prevent injuries, overheating, escapes, and added stress for animals already going through a scary situation.

If you cannot safely contain or transport the animal, please contact us during open hours to report the animal at large so an Animal Control Officer can assist if needed. Thank you for helping keep both people and animals safe.
