🚨 “I JUST WANT MY CAT TO HAVE ONE LITTER.”

We don’t care that you only want one litter. And honestly? The kittens don’t care about your reasons, either. Because that one litter doesn’t end with those kittens. Those kittens grow up and reproduce. Their kittens reproduce. And before you know it, one litter has turned into hundreds, then thousands of cats born into a world that already doesn’t have enough homes for the ones who exist.

That one litter can mean kittens born outside, starving, freezing, suffering from preventable illnesses, being attacked, or dying before they ever get the chance to know what a safe, loving home feels like.

It means overcrowded shelters. Rescues stretched beyond their limits. Bottle babies fighting for their lives. And perfectly adoptable cats being euthanized because there simply isn’t enough space.

And for what? Because someone wanted their cat to experience motherhood? Because their cat is cute and they wanted kittens? Because they thought they could find homes for just one litter?

Your cat does not need to experience motherhood. Your cat does not need to have babies to live a fulfilled life. And the world does not need more kittens born into uncertainty.

We see the consequences every single day. We see the kittens who don’t make it. We see the ones who need round-the-clock care. We see the ones who never get their chance. So no, we aren’t impressed by your “just one litter.” We’re thinking about all the lives that litter could set into motion.

SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR PETS.

Because one litter is never *just* one litter when you consider the lives that come after it. And every kitten born deserves a chance at life, not just a chance at being born. 🐾

This group of 5 has a lot to say about getting into their new foster home! They are chatty and excited. A foster home environment promotes growth and socialization, allows health conditions to be tracked and treated much easier than the standard shelter environment, and is overall how we get to know each cat individually as well as possible in order to get them set up for success and find them the home that is the best fit for them. THANK YOU to the 2 homes that signed up to take on some foster kittens and allow us to serve more cats in our community.

TRUNK OR TREAT DONATION CHALLENGE - We have 11 rescue organizations joining us 2PM-4PM this coming Sunday (Oct 25) for the 4th Annual Multi-Rescue Trunk or Treat for Pets & Their People event! We are continuing our tradition of matching donations to our Spay It Forward fund (up to $1,000!) collected in-office during the event AND online via this post. Funds will be split between participating rescues for FREE SPAY-NEUTER SURGERIES at our clinic.

Vetting and fixing adoptable animals is the single biggest expense for any rescue organization. These groups are saving lives in our community every day, and every dollar truly matters... especially when it's being matched!! Additional matching sponsors are welcome to make funds go even further... just message us!

We will also be collecting food, litter & other pet supplies in our lobby during the event!

Our wishlist is a little different this round because some of our biggest needs aren't things that fit in a box. They’re the things that keep our kittens healthy, our rescue running, and our little ones safe when the unexpected happens. It takes about $2500 to operate our rescue monthly, and we have not not been able to fundraise that much in the past few months. We have been averaging $800-$1000 monthly in monetary donations.

Here’s what we need most right now:

-Monetary donations for spay/neuter appointments.
Getting cats fixed is one of the most important things we do to prevent more unwanted litters and help break the cycle of kitten overpopulation.

-Donations toward renovations in our cat room.
We want to improve the space our cats call home and make it more functional, comfortable, and safe for the animals in our care.

-A generator before winter arrives!!!!
This one is especially important. We have tiny kittens who depend on incubators to stay warm. If the power goes out during a winter storm, we need a reliable backup to keep those incubators running. For our youngest babies, warmth can be lifesaving.

-Royal Canin wet kitten food.
We currently have a group of three little food critics who have decided this is the only food they’re willing to eat! We need to keep them fed while making sure everyone else gets what they need, too.

-Cat litter.
We go through a lot keeping our rescue clean and comfortable for everyone.

-Dry cat and kitten food.
Every day, we feed a whole crew of hungry mouths, and keeping our food supplies stocked is an ongoing expense.

🚨 URGENT: KITTEN FOSTER HOMES NEEDED!

Saving Kittens Sanctuary urgently needs foster homes in the Montgomery/Stewart/Christian County area for kittens ages 0–8 weeks, and we especially need placement for this duo who is already eating wet food! We also have a litter of 4 on wet food that is desperately in need of placement.

These babies need safe, loving homes where they can grow, play, and get the care they need while waiting for their forever families. The kittens needing placement are already eating wet food multiple times a day, so you don’t have to be an experienced bottle feeder to help with these little ones! We can always use more bottle feeders too though!

Here’s how our foster program works:
-We provide the food, litter, and veterinary care.
-You provide a safe space, love, and daily care.
- You keep your foster kitten until they’re adopted!

Fostering saves lives. Every open foster home gives us the ability to help another kitten in need, and right now, we need our community to step up for these babies.

If you’ve been thinking about fostering, this is your sign! Even if you can only help temporarily, opening your home could make all the difference for a kitten who needs somewhere to go this weekend.

PUMPKIN, HAM & NUTMEG ARE READY TO FIND THEIR PEOPLE! These three boys are showing off their most vivacious, orange-cat personalities, and trust us, they are living up to the orange cat reputation! 🧡 Whether it’s the goofy antics, the endless entertainment, or the big personalities packed into little bodies, Pumpkin, Ham, and Nutmeg are ready to bring some chaos and a whole lot of love to their forever families. Through Saving Kittens Sanctuary’s Foster-to-Adopt program, you can bring one of these boys home now while he finishes growing and getting ready for his neuter appointment!

Here’s how it works:
1. You take your kitten home and provide updates to us while he grows.
2. We stay in touch until his neuter appointment.
3. Ownership officially transfers to you on the day of his neuter appointment when he is checked in for surgery.

It’s a wonderful way to start bonding with your new family member before his final vetting milestone is complete!

📍 This program is limited to adopters in Clarksville, Tennessee, and the surrounding area.

Happy Adoption Day to our guy Fish! He was technically adopted yesterday evening, but we are making this post to congratulate him! Fish is a kitty who came into our rescue in early March. He had severe stomatitis and gingival hyperplasia. He received thousands of dollars of veterinary care in order to get him back into great oral health! He was a tricky guy to adopt out because he needed to be an only kitty, and his dental health needed to be monitored at his yearly visits, which scared some people away. But finally, his person came along. We really want to thank PetSmart in Paris TN for helping us find a home for one of the hardest to adopt out cats in our rescue this year! With the team helping with meet and greets and adoptions, we were able to find homes for 2 kittens and 2 adult cats in the last two weeks, to include some kitties who have been overlooked and judged. Happy tails to every kitty who found a home, but special congratulations are in order for Fishy boy who has been waiting for so long for his purrfect match.
