Sweet Magnolia's Bullmastiffs

It’s been a minute since I’ve posted anything, but both the girls continue to show beautifully. Daisy has earned her championship. She even went Best of Breed and got a Group 3 placement in owner Handler. Delilah two weekends before that at the McDonald Tennessee show went Best of Breed and got a group 2 placement in owner handler. We’ve dipped our toes into Barnhart with Daisy and fast cat with Delilah, but even more interesting is that we were gifted a sweet goofball of a 10 month old pup. He will be a year old in just a few short days and he loved showing off his first time at conformation class; so we shall see how he proceeds from here.

Health is a top priority here at Sweet Magnolia’s. All our dogs have their health testing listed on the OFA website.

The Bullmastiff was originally bred to aid gamekeepers in protecting the game on large English estates. The dog combines the reliability, intelligence, and willingness to please required in a dependable family companion and protector.

Are you interested in this breed? The OFA, working with the American Bullmastiff Association, recommends the following basic health screening tests for all breeding stock:
- Hip Dysplasia (OFA or PennHip)
- Elbow Dysplasia
- ACVO Eye Exam (Minimum of 12m)
- Cardiac (Including an echo)
- Autoimmune thyroiditis
Optional but recommended:
- Kidney Disease

Dogs meeting these basic health screening requirements are issued Canine Health Information Center (CHIC) numbers. For potential puppy buyers, CHIC certification is a good indicator the breeder responsibly factors good health into their selection criteria.
