📢 **RATASAURUS RATTERY — UPDATED ADOPTION POLICIES**
Please take a moment to review our policies before reserving or adopting. These guidelines help ensure a smooth, fair, and safe adoption process for everyone! 🐀❤️
🐀 **ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS**
If you do not currently own rats, you are **required to adopt at least a pair**. A trio is strongly encouraged! If you already own rats, please let us know and provide a photo of your current rats, including their genders and ages.
📋 **WAITLIST & RESERVATIONS**
I will contact people on the waitlist in order before posting available rats publicly. You will receive photos and have **one hour to respond** before I move to the next person. This gives everyone waiting a fair opportunity to reserve their rats.
Any rats remaining after the waitlist will be posted on the page and available on a **first-come, first-served basis**. The first person to pay the required deposit secures the reservation.
💰 **DEPOSITS & PAYMENTS**
A **50% nonrefundable deposit** of the listed adoption fee is required to reserve a rat. The remaining balance is due at pickup. Deposits will only be refunded if the cancellation is due to an issue originating within the rattery. Changing your mind or deciding you no longer want the rat does not qualify for a refund.
🚗 **CARRIERS**
Carriers are **not provided**. Please bring your own carrier when picking up your rats, as I do not have extras available.
📅 **PICKUP DEADLINES & NO-SHOWS**
Due to previous issues with delayed pickups and unresponsive adopters, all rats must be picked up **within one week after turning 8 weeks old**.
I will contact you approximately one week before your rat's ready date to arrange a pickup date and time. The standard pickup location is the **North College Hill Police Department**, unless another arrangement has been discussed and agreed upon.
If I contact you to schedule pickup and receive no response by the rat's ready date, **the rat and all fees paid will be forfeited**. Please communicate promptly and make sure you are prepared to follow through with your adoption.
📦 **TRANSPORT POLICY**
Long-distance transport is no longer available. I will transport within a maximum distance of **1.5 hours**, with a fee of **$1 per mile**, due before transport takes place. For destinations beyond this limit, please arrange transportation through a reputable pet transport company.
🏡 **UNABLE TO KEEP YOUR RAT?**
If you can no longer care for your rat or rats for any reason, **they are required to be returned to Ratasaurus Rattery**. We have an adoption application process and carefully vet our adopters, so we want to ensure every rat is placed in a safe, appropriate home. **Rats will be accepted back with no questions asked and without judgment.** Please reach out if your circumstances change. Their safety and well-being will always come first! ❤️
