🧪✨ KITTEN SPOTLIGHT: HELIUM & BORON! ✨🧪

🚨 WARNING: These kittens are dangerously perfect. 🚨

Friendly? YES.
Cuddly? ABSOLUTELY.
Never met a stranger? CORRECT.
Nonstop purr machines? YOU BET.
Personal space? THEY’VE NEVER HEARD OF HER.

Meet Helium & Boron, two 5-month-old brothers who are genuinely some of the sweetest, happiest, most ridiculously well-adjusted kittens you’ll ever meet. ❤️

These boys have been through more in their short lives than any tiny kitten should have to experience. They battled serious illness, lost littermates along the way, and had a pretty rough start to life.

But you would never know it from meeting them.

Helium and Boron came out the other side with an absolutely contagious zest for life. They’re confident, outgoing, affectionate little weirdos who wake up every morning absolutely THRILLED to be here. 🥹

Stranger walks in? NEW BEST FRIEND.

Kid wants to play? NEW BEST FRIEND.

Another cat? NEW BEST FRIEND.

Dog? Suspiciously shaped new best friend. 🐶

Random person existing within a 20-foot radius?
HELLO, HAVE YOU HEARD US PURR???

Seriously, these boys could walk into a family reunion where they know absolutely nobody and leave with six new best friends and an invitation to Thanksgiving.

AND HERE’S THE BEST PART:

These boys are 5 months old and DONE with their kitten vetting! 🎉

They are:
💉 Finished with their kitten vaccine series
✂️ Neutered
🧪 Combo tested
💻 Microchipped
🪱 Dewormed
❤️ Healthy, happy, and ready to GO!

That means we already survived the kitten vaccine schedule so YOU DON’T HAVE TO. 😂 Their routine preventative care is taken care of until they’re due for their next annual visit around one year old.*

Basically, you get all the fun of kittens with significantly less of the “Wait… when is his next vaccine due?” phase.

And all of that veterinary care is included with their adoption fee for a fraction of what it would cost to do individually.

We genuinely cannot understand how these two are still waiting.

Come meet Helium & Boron.

Actually, maybe don’t.

Because we’re pretty confident you’re going to walk in saying, “We’re just here to look…”

…and walk out with two kittens. 😂🧪❤️

Helium & Boron are ready for their happily ever after. Could it be with you?

🍊 MEET CALCITONIN 🍊

Handsome? ✅
Photogenic? ✅
Orange? Unfortunately, yes. 🧠❌

Calcitonin, aka Cal, came to us from an outdoor colony where he was originally considered feral.

That assessment lasted approximately until we brought out the Churu. 😂

Apparently, Cal wasn’t feral. He was just holding out for better accommodations.

A few Churus, some forced cuddles, and one comfy foster home later, Cal promptly abandoned his rugged outdoor lifestyle and decided that actually… being a spoiled house cat is pretty sick.

Now this former “feral” boy is a certified LOVE BUG. 🧡 He loves people. He loves other cats. He even loves DOGS.

Basically, Cal has never met a friend he didn’t like.

His hobbies include:

🍊 Committing orange-cat activities
📸 Serving face
🧡 Demanding cuddles
🐱 Wrestling his friends
🐶 Befriending the enemy
😌 Living lavishly on someone else’s dime
🧠 Waiting patiently for his turn with the communal orange-cat brain cell

And unfortunately, he KNOWS he’s handsome.

Calcitonin has officially decided that the streets are beneath him. He would now like a permanent residence where he can continue his career as Professional Pretty Boy™.

Please adopt Cal. He has become accustomed to a certain lifestyle and we can no longer reason with him. 😂🧡

🚨 Urgent New Intakes: Meet the Seasons 🍂❄️🌸☀️

It started with one tiny kitten who couldn’t walk normally.

Our president was contacted by a caring person who had noticed a little kitten outside their home with his mother and littermates. While the others were getting around normally, one little boy was limping badly and refusing to put any weight on one of his paws.

For a tiny, defenseless kitten living outside, even a seemingly simple injury can quickly become life-threatening.

We knew we needed to get him to safety.

There was just one problem: we needed somewhere for an entire little family to go.

Thankfully, an incredible foster stepped up when we needed them most. Because they said yes, we were able to say yes, too. ❤️

Mom and her babies were brought inside and, for the first time, were safe.

We named our newest little family Summer, Autumn, Winter, and Spring. ☀️🍂❄️🌸

And our injured little boy became Autumn. 🍂

Because Autumn still wouldn’t put any weight on his paw, we sent him for X-rays, worried we might be dealing with a fracture.

Thankfully, nothing appeared to be broken. But there was another problem. Autumn had a fever, and became more lethargic.

Suddenly, his limp was the least of our worries.

We started him on antibiotics, and before long, we began seeing our little Autumn come back to life. ❤️‍🩹

His fever came down.
His energy returned.
He started playing with his siblings again.

And then…

he started putting weight on his paw. 🥹

Now, Autumn is running, playing, and acting like the happy little kitten he was always supposed to be.

It’s hard not to think about what would have happened if no one had noticed him.

If no one had reached out.

If a foster hadn’t stepped up.

If he had been left outside for just a little longer.

Without prompt care and intervention, little Autumn may not have made it.

Instead, he is warm. He is fed. He has medicine when he needs it. He has his family beside him.

And he is safe. ❤️

Welcome to the Cottage, Summer, Autumn, Winter, and Spring.

And little Autumn…

Welcome to safety. You don’t have to fight alone anymore. 🍂🐾

🌿☠️ Introducing the Poison Plant Litter! ☠️🌿

Don’t let the names fool you—the only dangerous thing about these kittens is how quickly they’ll steal your heart. 💚

Meet our little garden of troublemakers:

🌿 Ivy — Female
☠️ Hemlock — Male
🌿 Sumac — Male
🍂 Oak — Male
🌿 Laurel — Female
🌸 Foxglove — Female
🖤 Belladonna — Female

These seven tiny “poison plants” were rescued from underneath a shed when they were just two weeks old. They were itty-bitty babies then, but look at them now! 🥹

They’ve spent the last several weeks growing, learning, playing, and perfecting the art of kitten chaos—and now they’re nearly big enough to be spayed/neutered and head off to their forever homes! 🏡

The Poison Plant Litter is officially AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ADOPTION! 🎉

Mysterious? ✅
Friendly? ✅
Quirky? Absolutely. ✅
Adorable enough to get away with just about anything? Unfortunately, yes. 😂

Whether you’re looking for a sweet little Ivy to take over your home, a dramatic Belladonna, or a Hemlock who is significantly less deadly than his namesake, there’s a little plant in this garden for everyone. 🌱

Come meet the Poison Plant Litter and find out which one belongs in your family. 💚

🌸 Flower Litter Update — Our Little Flowers Are BLOSSOMING! 🌸

We finally have the kind of update we’ve been hoping to share! 🥹🌷

Our little flowers received their serum treatment from Dr. Dell on Friday, and within just 24 hours, we could see a clear difference. Petal, Stem, and Bloom are more vibrant, playful, and full of life than we’ve seen them in weeks! 💕

And then came an even bigger milestone…

By Sunday evening, all three kittens were able to nurse from a bottle for the first time in weeks! 🍼😭 After weeks of illness, tube feedings, oxygen support, and around-the-clock care, watching them eagerly take a bottle felt absolutely incredible. They’re even beginning to wean onto canned food!

For three little kittens who have fought so incredibly hard just to be here, these seemingly small milestones feel HUGE. 🌱

It’s finally looking up for what remains of our little garden. 🌷🌸🌱 We’re not completely out of the woods yet, but for the first time in a while, these babies are getting to spend more time simply being kittens — playing, eating, growing, and causing the appropriate amount of tiny kitten chaos. 🥹

With three growing babies beginning the weaning process, we’re going through KMR and canned kitten food quickly! If you’d like to help keep their little bellies full, both can be donated through our Amazon Wishlist. 🫶🏻

Our preferred canned food for these babies is Royal Canin Mother & Babycat, which is perfect for helping little ones transition from milk to solid food.

If you’re able to send them a meal, Petal, Stem, and Bloom would very much appreciate the snacks! 🌸🍼

Thank you to everyone who has followed their journey, donated supplies, shared their story, and cheered these babies on. After everything this little garden has been through, seeing our remaining flowers finally begin to blossom means more than we can say. 💕🌷

🌸 The Flower Litter — Why Are They So Sickly? 🌸

Today, we wanted to talk a little bit about why our sweet Flower kittens have struggled with so much severe illness at such a young age.

Bloom, Petal, and Stem are dealing with something called Failure of Passive Transfer (FPT).

When kittens are born, their immune systems are extremely immature, leaving them incredibly vulnerable to infections from germs that an older kitten or adult cat could normally fight off without a problem.

That’s where mom comes in. 🩷

The first milk a mother cat produces is called colostrum, and it is packed with antibodies called immunoglobulins. During the first hours after birth, a kitten’s intestines can absorb these antibodies directly into the bloodstream, giving them temporary protection while their own immune system develops.

But that window is incredibly short.

If a newborn kitten doesn’t receive enough colostrum during those critical first hours of life, that ability to absorb maternal antibodies disappears. The result is Failure of Passive Transfer — essentially leaving the kitten with little to no maternal antibody protection during the most vulnerable weeks of their life.

Unfortunately, we believe that is exactly what happened to our Flower litter.

🌸 Frenchie gave birth to eight kittens on Friday, July 3rd, in the middle of fireworks. She was a terrified, inexperienced first-time mother trying to care for a very large litter, and during those first critical days, she struggled to properly care for her babies.

Then, at around two weeks old, everything began to fall apart.

One after another, the kittens became critically ill. Pneumonia. Respiratory distress. Sepsis. Sudden declines. Despite antibiotics, oxygen, nebulization, tube feeding, round-the-clock supportive care, and everything we could throw at this illness, we began losing them.

Frenchie started with eight babies.

Today, at four weeks old, only three remain: Bloom, Petal, and Stem. 💔🌸

Failure of passive transfer helps explain why infections that might be manageable in another kitten have been absolutely devastating to this litter. Without adequate maternal antibodies, these babies have had very little protection while their own immune systems are still developing.

But tomorrow, we’re giving our little flowers some reinforcements. ❤️‍🩹

There is a treatment that can provide kittens with antibodies from a healthy, vaccinated adult cat. Blood is collected from a donor cat and processed to separate the serum, which contains immunoglobulins. That serum can then be administered to the kittens, providing temporary passive immunity while we wait for their own immune systems to mature.

It isn’t something commonly performed in neonatal kittens. These babies are incredibly fragile, their conditions can change within minutes, and neonatal intensive care is an area that relatively few veterinary professionals regularly manage.

But our flowers have made it this far.

And they deserve every chance we can give them. 🌷

We are incredibly grateful for our wonderful veterinarian at The Cat Vet of Hebron, who continues to support us and is willing to go above and beyond for some of the tiniest, most fragile patients imaginable. Tomorrow morning, Bloom, Petal, and Stem will receive their serum treatment.

After everything these babies have endured over the last four weeks, we are desperately hoping this gives their little bodies the extra protection they need to finally get over this hurdle.

They’ve already fought so, so hard.

🌸 Bloom. Petal. Stem. 🌸

Three little flowers left from a garden of eight.

Please send them all the love, luck, prayers, and good thoughts you can for tomorrow morning. 🫶🏻🌷

We’re not done fighting for them 🙌

If you’d like to help support their care and offset their veterinary costs, please consider donating from our wishlist or to Venmo/Cashapp (managed by our president).
