Cal’y Shepherds Our sole purpose is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs in need, providing them with compassionate care, medical treatment, and a safe environment.

Our focus breed is the German Shepherd dog, because they tend to struggle in shelter environments.

Update - Adopted
Theodore was found in the middle of the road by Villa Hills police station last Wednesday by a staff member of Park Hills Animal Hospital who was kind enough to pick him up. His microchip is still registered to me so they reached out to let me know they had him. Unfortunately our attempts to contact his adopter have been unsuccessful, so I can only assume that it wasn’t by accident that he was out. 😔 I do want to point out that my adoption contract states that if things aren’t working out, reach out to me and we’ll figure it out… I hate that a 5 month old, 15 pound puppy was left to fend for himself and I certainly hope that he wasn’t out for long before he was found. 🙏
I held him for a week just in case there was a change of heart (72 hours is the typical hold time before a dog is put back up for adoption).

So with that being said… Theo is looking for what we hope will be his FOREVER home. 🏡 If you are interested you can message me or call me at (515)421-7456. Please share to help Theo find his new family. 🫶

I just wanted to provide an update to any of my followers… my older resident dog has a large inoperable mass in her abdomen so I have paused my rescue intake to give her my full attention during her hospice period.
I am, however, still open to matchmaking!! If you have something specific that you are looking for feel free to comment or inbox me with what you are looking for (age, s*x, breed, specifics for your household needs) and I’m happy to keep an eye out/pull any dog that fits that need!

I am still (kind of desperately) looking for a foster or adopter for Miss Dani… my older resident shepherd has an inoperable tumor and is in her hospice period and Dani isn’t really taking the hint to leave her alone/let her rest. I feel awful because the last thing Rosie needs right now is more stress so if anyone can help I’m forever grateful!!! 😔🙏

Dani came to me in March with Anaplasmosis, full of hookworms & with 8 newborn puppies. Her fur was dull, flaky, she was underweight (most likely from the worms), and she was using all of her energy being a young momma. Nothing like the dog I see this morning. (She even does a model spin so you can see the gleam in her coat now) 💃
This pretty girl is back to 100% health wise, has raised 8 healthy babies who went off to their new families and now it’s her turn to find her forever home. She is fully house trained, crate trained, and general obedience trained. She’s most likely only 1-2 years old and has a fun, goofy personality. We’re located in Cincinnati, OH.

I’ve had a few people reach out to me in messenger about Dani’s puppies… they are still available for adoption through Animal House Cincy. I checked in on them yesterday & while they’re doing well, I’m certain they’re patiently/impatiently waiting for their forever families to come rescue them! 🙏🫶 🏠

The final 4 puppies are at Animal House Cincy in the hope that their new families walk through the doors soon! After loving on these little hound dogs & watching them grow for the last 10.5 weeks, I’m sure gonna miss my babies! 🥹

The former owner of Dani/momma dog told me that she was an Australian Shepherd & the whole time I kept thinking she must be a mix because she doesn’t look like one 🧐… turns out she’s not Australian Shepherd, she’s Australian Kelpie! 😂 It makes so much more sense now. 🤭
