Tonight the puppies got to experience the slightly bigger playpen (still keeping that one relatively small to encourage good litterbox behavior), their first chariot ride, and meeting one another for the first time since they've been more aware of their surroundings. Sylvie even joined them for some play briefly.

Happy five weeks, Night Litter! That means you get costumes!

Why do we subject our puppies to costumes? Because it helps desensitize them to the idea of wearing something later on in life. Maybe that's a Halloween costume for fun, or maybe it's a surgical suit or bandage or cone of shame. Either way, it makes life easier for future owners and less stressful for these guys as adults.

Plus, it's just fun. Even though some of these girls may be plotting against me now 🫣.

It's a big day...they were all sleeping in the (freshly cleaned) litter boxes, so I decided to try a bed. Can they keep it clean? Will they destroy it or treat it as another litterbox? We shall see...but for now, Luna says OH THANK GOODNESS, CIVILIZATION AT LAST!

They've been doing great with using the litterboxes for the intended purpose, too, so this weekend we'll try making their play area bigger and try removing the fleece bedding. Growing up fast!!

A very special wish for a Happy FOURTEENTH Birthday to our First Litter!

This litter made so many of my dreams come true and it's because of their successes and their incredible families that Maywood Retrievers still exists today. Thank you to everyone who supported us as we were starting out on this journey and thank you to everyone who still encourages us to keep going today, even as the universe throws one breeding challenge after another at us. We remain thankful, as I can't imagine my life without these guys ❤.

Pictured are Sky and Percy, missing sister Stella this year, and probably confused as to why their cake had a unicorn on it anyway 😝.

Interrupting the normal puppy spam for a little brag...

A few weekends ago, I snuck away from puppy chaos for one last shot at finishing Kenzie's Rally Championship before she comes into season. She still needed 9 points.

The course was as challenging as it could possibly be for her...all the signs we've previously struggled with at some point: recall over a broad jump, figure 8 with toys, spins both directions, and a send to cone. To make matters worse, there was a lot of confusion on run order and I had Caia warmed up and ready to go...had to run back, grab Kenzie and go straight in the ring.

BEAUTIFUL run...a 99...9 points. Now that the certificate has arrived, I can officially announce RACH Kenzie!!

And for all those anxiously waiting for her to come into season...no, not yet... I guess she says no way, not until summer is over and the pool is closed!
