Trust me, 𝑰 𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒊𝒕.

Horses are expensive, and so is the world right now. Many of us are not only struggling to pay for our horse’s bills, but struggling to pay for our own. This might be a tough pill to swallow for some, but…

You don’t NEED a horse. You made the choice to bring a horse into your life. It’s sort of like making the choice to have a child. You made the commitment to take care of an animal, to give them love, food, and shelter… and that commitment doesn’t end just because your horse got old, or had a career ending injury.

I am seeing so many old horses or horses with ringbone or other severe issues wind up at kill pens or in horrible situations that don’t deserve to be there. I’ve even seen horses with extensive show records in these horrible situations. We need to do better. We need to give these animals the same care they give us. They deserve it. Please keep your animals when they are no longer useful to you. They don’t deserve to be discarded like trash because you want a shiny new horse without problems.

I know this is a different kind of post than what I normally put out there, but my heart breaks when I see things like this, and I wanted to bring attention to it. Horses deserve better. So do the people trying to save them. 🖤
