Medical update from the sanctuary 🩺🐾
Mr. Frankie is having an eye issue. He has chronic scarring of his eyes due to his breed plus a growth on his eyelid we have been monitoring for awhile- we'd like to avoid surgery if possible due to his age.
Just recently he's had crusty discharge and it was important to get him into the vet to ensure we aren't missing something serious (glaucoma, dry eye, etc). Luckily his testing looked good but his tear production was a little low. We are getting him started on medications today and rechecking the tear production after his eyes are less inflamed to make a better long-term plan.
Our sanctuary situation is unique. We have Dr. Jamie's expertise but limited medical equipment and no staff so we do pursue care at local primary care vets as needed. This means we still have vet bills, and you know how those add up. 😵💫😵💫His testing and meds today costed $232.
