🐕🐕 FOSTER UPDATE ON BOURBON 🐕🐕

Bourbon has been with our household since last week. He settled in very quickly. He LOVES to run and play with his toys, so much so he doesn’t even need another dog involved but he sure loves that too. He is learning good boundaries with other dogs. He is great at keeping himself entertained when the other dogs don’t want to play and is a big fan of a stuffy toys. Walks are definitely his love language and he will go forever if you let him.

🐕🥰 ADOPTION CHECK-INS 🥰🐕

~SCARLETT~
We went and checked in with Scarlett and her family. Scarlett is adjusting very well and starting to show her personality. She has a big yard to run in and do her zoomies. As you can tell, she also likes to give loves, which our Board Member, Abby L Urbigkit was lucky to receive.

~SAPPHIRE~
We checked in with Sapphire and her family. As always she was a lover and doing very well. We are happy to announce that her toe nail and fur are growing back on her paws, YAY!! As you can see, she was happy to see our President, Gail Hahne again. She will be going on her 1st vacation in July. We are so happy to see how much Sapphire has blossomed and is able to be a dog.

🐕🐕 ROSE UPDATE 🐕🐕

Rose has blossomed as one would say 😉

Rose adores the lake and river. She is now loving her freedom and has finished her ecollar conditioning so she gets to explore at her pace. She can be a little wary with more energetic dogs but settles in well if given the time.

Rose is learning her basics but isn’t super interested in the treats her foster has offered so we’ve been a little slow to pick those up BUT she was downtown in Mitchell for the Memorial fundraiser and did fantastic and since has enjoying multiple outings and done great.

She can be a little mouth forward and loves to grab things that maybe aren’t the best for dogs (random water bottles, collar remotes, anything she can reach off the counters) but what else is expected from a young pup? She is easily redirected and we hope she’ll be ready to find her own home after she heals from her upcoming spay appointment! ❤️

The City of Mitchell has FREE TNR services

Feeding and caring for outdoor cats without spaying and neutering may feel compassionate, but it actually allows the cycle of suffering to continue.

One unspayed female cat — and her kittens — can lead to hundreds of cats over time. The result is more starving kittens, disease, injuries, fighting, dead kittens, overwhelmed shelters, and cats being hit by cars or harmed by weather and predators.

TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) is what stops the cycle.
When community cats are:
• trapped
• spayed/neutered
• vaccinated
• and returned to their territory

the population stabilizes and gradually declines. The cats live healthier lives, nuisance behaviors decrease, and far fewer kittens are born to suffer outdoors.

Feeding alone is not rescue.
If food is provided without sterilization, the colony grows, more cats are attracted to the area, and the problem becomes worse each breeding season.

Real compassion means taking responsibility for prevention — not just providing food.

If you feed feral cats, please also support TNR:
✔ Spay/neuter every cat possible
✔ Get kittens socialized and adopted when possible
✔ Vaccinate when you can
✔ Work with local rescues and TNR groups
✔ Encourage responsible pet ownership

We cannot “save” cats by allowing endless litters to be born outside. TNR is the humane solution

The City of Mitchell has free TNR Services.

If you are caring for cats that you would like to keep, contact us. We will provide you with traps and pre-approved numbers you can use to have your cats altered, virus tested, and vaccinated at Creekside.

If you have cats you want removed from your property contact amimls control. They will either trap for you or loan you a trap. If they are unable to do so, traps can be borrowed from the TNR program. These cats go to the pound. Friendly cats end up on the adoptable side of the rescue. Feral cats go to TNR. All TNR cats are vetted at Lakeciew and then picked up by adopters with approved applications.

~Update on Sweet Pea~
Potty training is in progress, learning the crate, she gets the zoomies like a little puppy which is so funny
She is learning to be apart of the pack with the dogs in her foster home.
She is such a sweet soul and is very treat motivated!

~~ UPDATE ON ROSE ~~

Update on Rose :

Rose is settling into her foster family! She is learning how to crate, how to handle and exist within a pack, and just how wonderful adventures are.

So far she has shown us to be a wonderfully sweet girl and we are looking forward to her continued training. She is showing us so far that she is fairly confident and handles public well too!
