🚨 PLEASE LEAVE WILDLIFE BABIES ALONE 🚨
Every single spring and summer we see well-meaning people “rescue” wildlife infants that were NEVER abandoned to begin with.
Just because you see a baby animal alone does NOT mean it needs human intervention.
Mama deer leave fawns hidden for hours while they forage.
Baby rabbits are often alone all day while mom stays away to avoid drawing predators to the nest.
Birds learning to fly spend time on the ground while their parents continue feeding them.
When humans interfere, you are often:
• Separating babies from perfectly healthy mothers
• Causing unnecessary stress and injury
• Reducing their chance of survival in the wild
• Making them dependent on humans
• Accidentally killing them with improper care or feeding
And please understand this clearly:
FEEDING WILDLIFE THE WRONG THING CAN KILL THEM QUICKLY.
Cow’s milk, random formulas, force feeding, and “Google advice” are dangerous.
Unless the animal is:
✔️ visibly injured
✔️ covered in flies/ants/ticks
✔️ cold and unresponsive
✔️ confirmed orphaned (dead mother nearby)
✔️ in immediate danger
…your best action is usually to WATCH FROM A DISTANCE AND LEAVE IT ALONE.
If you truly believe a baby needs help, CONTACT US OR ANOTHER LICENSED WILDLIFE REHABILITATOR FIRST before touching or removing it.
Nature is not always pretty, but not every baby animal needs to be “saved” by humans. Sometimes the most compassionate thing you can do is walk away. 🦌🐇🦉🦝
