My #1 Rule of Parrot Ownership:

If a portal to the outside (window, door, unexpected visitor could come in) your bird must be in their cage.

No exceptions. Every. Damn. Time.

Accidents happen.

Vigilance is the cure.

I know I have been quiet for a while but I had to join in the fun of celebrating National "Pi" Day with all of you! While we usually think of Pi Day as celebrating the number (3.14159 etc), it carries a special meaning for us bird owners.

Happy Pi Day from Loki to all of you!

Happy New Year!

Birds do not get a newsletter to let them know it’s “hormone season”.

What it really is is a conflux of more daylight time, wet food, excessive baths an excessive touching and them digging around finding places to nest. That’s what triggers breeding mode.

I’m in a few bird groups and, my god, everyone blames everything on hormones.

Clean the cage. Feed appropriately. Give 12 hours of uninterrupted sleep.

And quit blaming mythical hormones on factors that can be controlled with the right steps and husbandry.i

Hi everyone. I am so overwhelmed with gratitude. This holiday season has really turned into such a blessing for me and I’m so grateful for the outpouring of holiday bookings.

In order for me to provide the best possible service I need to put a stop to new bookings for now.

I’m still open for consultations and other services!

Hi all, I have one more slot available over Christmas/ Holiday time. After this is filled I will not be taking on more clients until January 2026 and I won’t be able to make any exceptions.

I’m so grateful to be booked and blessed but don’t leave your feathered friends planning until the last minute!
