Gary Animal Control needs BLANKETS‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️

Gary Animal Control is in desperate need of gently used medium to large-sized blankets, comforters, and towels. At any given time, they care for 30-50 animals and go through blankets at a rapid pace. Unfortunately, their supply is running critically low.

There is no reason to buy brand new blankets. Whatever you have at your house or pick up at thrift stores works just fine.

If you drop off donations and the gate is closed, simply leave them by the gate, an officer will bring them inside as soon as they return from calls.

(Please note that hand towels, fitted sheets, pillowcases, & blankets with wires are not needed at this time.)

Silverstray and Gary Animal Control share a collaborative partnership, working hand in hand to meet the needs of the animals in Gary. As part of this strong co-op relationship, Silverstray is dedicated to soliciting and gathering the donations necessary to ensure that the animals receive the care and comfort they deserve.

Where? Munster Fire Department Station #2.

NO residency requirements. All welcome! No pre registration required.

Pets must be 6 weeks and older.

Dogs must be leashed and cats must be in carriers.

Microchips are free with free lifetime registration. Monetary DONATIONS are encouraged and appreciated and benefit Gary families and Gary Animal Control through Silverstray Social .

We are not affiliated with this event, but we wanted to share it with East Chicago residents.

While our services are focused in Gary, we do provide a significant number of free microchips to East Chicago residents and are often contacted for resources. Many of the families we serve in Gary also have strong connections to East Chicago through friends and family. Many animals also end up in Gary Animal Control who are from East Chicago.

Because of those connections, we’re always happy to share helpful opportunities like this one happening in East Chicago.
