There are many things that our dogs do grow out of, but most of the naughty behaviors are things they need to be taught to stop doing. If you're questioning "is this still a puppy thing?" about behaviors you're seeing from your older puppy (10mo+), it's probably time to bring in some help.

**Brave Brody**

Anyone who knows me or has worked with me knows I have two BMDs - one confident dog who we've raised since he was a puppy and the other, fearful dog who we adopted when he was two(-ish). Believe it or not, Brody, the bouncy, happy boy in this video, is my fearful dog.

Brody has taught me so much over the last four years. He's made me more patient. He's taught not only me, but my family and other dog about respecting boundaries. He's taught me how to think outside the box because one size definitely does not fit all.

He loves to play "I'm gonna get ya" with this green rake. In a stranger's hands, he would be terrified of that rake, but with his family, it's one of his favorite games.

If you have an anxious, fearful dog, it is still possible for them to have a happy, full life. With confidence boosting activities, your dog can be bouncing around just like Brody. 😊

As a dog trainer, I care a tremendous amount about my clients - humans and dogs. That's why it's important to me that I am honest with them. Whether that truth be easy to hear or difficult, I would hope it is received openly. My goal is never to judge anyone or hurt anyone's feelings. The ultimate goal always has the owner and dog's wellbeing and happiness in mind.

🌸🌼 Field trip with Remy 🌼🌸

Remy is a year old Bernese Mountain Dog with lots of energy! She and I spent a few hours together reinforcing skills that she had already learned, such as coming when called, leash walking, waiting, and just overall calmness out in public. We went to four different locations, sniffed lots of new and interesting sniffs, and met a few friends along the way.

Remy is normally very boisterous, but when I spent some time with her outside of the comfort and safety of her own home, I saw a different side of her. While she was still her happy, goofy self, she was more reserved on unfamiliar turf.

As a trainer, it's helpful for me to have these moments with a dog because it shows me and the dog owner a more complete picture of what the dog is like and what they are capable of.

We are SO looking forward to this event. We have been attending Woofstock for years and it's always so much fun! We hope to see lots of our past, current, and future students there. Dani has a fun challenge (and prizes!) for anyone who visits with their dog, so make sure you stop by to say hi. 😊🐾

Clients often ask me "how long should I let my dog sniff one spot?" The answer: Long enough that your fitbit asks you if you're ever going to move again. 🤣

No, but seriously, the answer totally depends on what you're trying to achieve with the walk. If YOU want exercise, then you need to keep pace or my personal preference, leave the dogs at home. If I want to move quickly, I am better off alone.

But if you want the dog to get enrichment, let them sniff until they are finished with that particular spot. All dogs are different. Some like to run, some like to sniff. Some dogs are somewhere in between.

We get all of our food and treats from Pet Supplies Plus in Cherry Hill. I even use their training treats (that all of your dogs seem to LOVE!) during my training sessions. Of course Hooper was thrilled to go walk around and visit his friends (the staff)! 😊
