Sherlock Bones Lost 'N Hound Dog Recovery

Sherlock Bones Lost 'N Hound Dog Recovery A local group of animal lovers dedicated to reuniting owners with their lost family members with four paws The forming of our team, was a slow one.

Not because we were searching for the right people, but because it took time for the world to truly bring us together in the way it has. It needed to let us grow and learn on our own to realize where our very own skills were and hone them so when we came together we would rock it like we were meant to. We work well together and each member brings a lot of the same knowledge to the team, but we are

all also very skilled in certain areas that other's may still be learning the knowledge on or maybe it’s just not their strength. But that’s what makes us so amazing. We have truly learned to rely on each other for those strengths!!! It's our desire to bring dog's back home to their owners that allows us to operate so fluid like!!! WE are ALL 100% dedicated to the task before us from beginning to end. We do not just give up, quit, or walk away. We have even more in the last few months learned the strengths and weaknesses of our team members. We have rallied around each other during tough cases and have appreciated every little bit of help we offer each other - physically being on scene, helping to create fliers, hang fliers, or offering words of encouragement. Lost dog tracking and recovery can be tiring, mentally draining, and time consuming. Without each other - we wouldn't be where we are right now. We will continue to grow and continue to succeed - because we not only believe in ourselves - but each other as well!!! It’s the ability to lean on each other and bounce ideas off of each other that enable us to be so successful. While we have all worked together in one way or another over the last couple of years, it was at the end of October that we truly started forming our official group and became a team. If you have any questions, please, feel free to contact us!!!

Rocky – Hamburg, New York 🐾Rocky was with his owners at Pet Supplies Plus on South Park when two German Shepherds walked in barking. Startled and scared, Rocky backed out of his collar and took off, ending up in the woods behind the store. Many people tried to help, but Rocky was too frightened to be caught. At one point, he even saw his owners—but fear had taken over, and he wouldn’t go to them.At that point, we knew trapping would be the safest option.A thermal drone was deployed and successfully located Rocky, giving us a better idea of where to set up feeding stations and traps. When Rocky’s owners attempted to secure him after the sighting, he became frightened again and ran.Rocky remained extremely skittish but began visiting a couple of our feeding stations, so we set two traps. We ran into some challenges along the way—raccoons kept interfering, and we even caught a squirrel (who was safely released, of course).A big thank you to RJ from Hamburg Dog Control for the support, and to Nate from Thermal Seek Drone for helping locate Rocky. After eight long days on the run, at 5:30 this morning, Rocky finally found the courage to enter the trap, drawn in by his favorite food and familiar blankets.Rocky is now safely home with his family, getting the rest he so desperately needs.Thank you to everyone who kept an eye out and called in sightings—you helped bring Rocky home. ❤️🐶

⸻2/21 - 3/10 Lancaster / Clarence Hollow – ViVi RescuedViVi was recently rescued and had only been with her new family for a very short time before she cleared (not climbed) a 5-foot fence and went on the run. Many sightings came in, and many people tried to help contain her, but she was extremely frightened and kept running. We set up multiple feeding stations with cameras, but every time she was spotted, people would try to catch her. Unfortunately, this only pushed her into new areas because she was so scared. At one point, she even made her way onto the Thruway and the New York State Police became involved, but once again she disappeared.ViVi would pop up every few days. We received videos of sightings in yards at 12 a.m. and 2 a.m. In one of the videos, you could see she was starting to slow down and was limping. We also received a call from someone who saw two people with a St. Bernard that looked just like her at Tractor Supply, heading toward the back to give her a bath. Unfortunately, the person didn’t realize she was a missing dog until later when they saw her flyer posted on a lost pet page.Somehow, ViVi made her way all the way out to Salt Rd. in Clarence Hollow with a new collar on, and her nails appeared to be trimmed. Our thought is that someone picked her up and may have planned on keeping her. They likely gave her a bath and bought her a collar since she had taken off without one. She had been wearing a red harness, which dogs often lose while on the run, and it’s possible she escaped from them as well.Completely exhausted, ViVi eventually made her way to a farm. The homeowners found her lying on their porch. They were able to get a leash on her and bring her into their barn, closing the door behind her. But this big girl wasn’t going anywhere — she was simply too exhausted. The homeowner contacted Clarence Dog Control, who then reached out to a Sherlock Bones volunteer. Arrangements were made to transport ViVi safely back to her owner, where she can now get the much-needed rest she deserves.Thank you to everyone who called in sightings and kept an eye out for this beautiful girl.Welcome home, ViVi.

⸻Lancaster NY | 3/2 – 3/7Durée took off from her newly adopted home on March 2nd. There were quite a few sightings over the next several days, but she was extremely frightened and would not go to anyone. Anytime someone got close, she would run back into the wooded areas. She seemed to find some comfort hanging around a homeowner’s front and back porch. However, the moment anyone even looked her way, she would quickly disappear again.A feeding station was established by one of the homeowners to help keep her from leaving the area. A volunteer then went out and set up a camera along with our own feeding station. She did come to eat, but she wasn’t very interested in the food at first — she was much more interested in the stuffed animal that had been left for her. She grabbed her stuffy and took off through the neighborhood with it.The next morning she returned, this time looking for food. While volunteers were in the area rebaiting and setting up the trap, she was spotted sitting on a porch with her stuffed animal. As soon as she noticed us, she ran again. We quickly grabbed her stuffy and placed it inside the trap, ran a scent trail, and added fresh food. The rest is history — Durée was safely trapped.Thank you to everyone who called in sightings and kept an eye out for her. Your help made all the difference in getting this scared girl to safety.

Evans / Angola, NY – Safe Capture Update 🐾

A loose dog had been spotted on a rural property for several days in an area surrounded by farmland. At first, the landowner thought he might belong to a nearby home and was just roaming, but no one came forward and there were no missing dog posts matching his description.

The landowner reached out to us for help, and we jumped right in. We asked if they could leave food out to establish a feeding station. It took about a day for the pup to find it, but once he started showing up regularly, we were able to set a humane trap.

Early this morning, he returned to the feeding station and was safely secured.

Thank you to the landowner for caring enough to reach out and for helping us get this pup to safety. Now the search begins to find his family or get him the care he needs.

Lost Dog - Blasdell, NY (HappyReunion!)This dog had been seen for about a week in an area off Mile Strip Road. A huge thank you to the family who began feeding him, which allowed us to set up a humane trap and a live camera so we could get him safely out of the extreme cold.At the time, we had no idea who owned him, as there were no lost dog posts that matched his description. He was very scared, and it took a few days of conditioning before he finally found the courage to enter the trap. Around 7:30 PM, he went in and was sately secured. The dog was transported to Hamburg Police Department, where the owner recognized him, came forward with proof of ownership, and was happily reunited with him.Thank you to everyone who called in sightings, and especially to the family who fed him and helped him stop running so he could be safely rescued. This was truly a team effort, and we're so grateful for everyone involved.❤️🐶

SAL IS SAFE! 🤍🐾

Sal, a beautiful all-white Jindo from South Korea, is finally and safe.

Sal was brand new to the area and had been in his Lockport home for less than 24 hours when he took off. With the snow-covered ground, Sal blended right in, making him incredibly difficult to spot. Sightings began coming in from the Outwater Road area and near the cemetery. After two long weeks on the run, City of Lockport Dog Control received a Ring camera alert showing Sal visiting a backyard late at night and getting into garbage.

We immediately set up a feeding station and camera, and Sal showed up right away. A trap was set, but Sal was so cautious that he stretched into the trap—almost like he was doing a plank—never fully committing. We couldn’t risk him hitting the trip plate with only half his body inside, so we made the decision to slow down and condition him.

It took a few days for Sal to build the courage to go all the way in for the food. Last night, around 10 PM, Sal returned… and this time he fully entered the trap. And just like that, his journey on the run came to an end. 💙

Sal was out there for two weeks, surviving the cold and the unknown, but he never stopped coming back—and neither did we.

A huge thank you to Liz and City of Lockport Dog Control, and to everyone who called in sightings, shared information, and kept an eye out for Sal. Sal is now safe and on his way back to where he belongs.
