Everybody wants the bite. Nobody wants to spend hours teaching the dog to not take it.

Today we worked on neutrality under distraction.

The decoy was talking, slight movement sitting in the chair, creating excitement, and tossing a reward right in front of Luka’s face.

His job?

Stay in the down.
Stay engaged with me.
Ignore the temptation.

Protection dogs don’t just need intensity and power. They need self-control.

The ability to switch on is important.

The ability to stay off until they’re told otherwise is what makes them reliable.
