Everybody wants the bite. Nobody wants to spend hours teaching the dog to not take it.

Today we worked on neutrality under distraction.

The decoy was talking, slight movement sitting in the chair, creating excitement, and tossing a reward right in front of Luka’s face.

His job?

Stay in the down.
Stay engaged with me.
Ignore the temptation.

Protection dogs don’t just need intensity and power. They need self-control.

The ability to switch on is important.

The ability to stay off until they’re told otherwise is what makes them reliable.

Wren completed her four week training program and we couldn't be prouder! We miss her so much already. She's such an amazing girl.

Welcome “Roux”
She is beginning her training to become a service dog, and we are so excited for this journey with her and the opportunity to start her off right.

The sweetest stranger snapped this shot while I was working dogs last night.

It’s quiet nights like that, the kind where it’s just me and them, that remind me why I started training in the first place.

When the self-doubt and noise in my head aren't so loud.

When life throws them punches I just remind myself to just keep getting out there and get after it.
