Standard poodles don't get enough credit. Smart, athletic, genuinely fun to work with — and when they're trained well, they're rock solid. This one's got a great owner to match. :)

There is something truly special about watching a dog do what they were meant to do.
Rory paid a visit to the residents at Canopy in Fort Oglethorpe, GA recently, and moments like this are exactly why this work matters so much. Watching the residents light up, reach out, and simply enjoy a quiet moment of connection with her is a reminder of how powerful that bond between people and dogs can be.
Thank you to Canopy for welcoming Rory and her handler with such warmth, and to everyone who makes these visits possible. This is what it's all about.

The Calm Walk
Today, we walked through the doors with a different kind of energy. Not rushed. Not bracing for whatever might happen next. Just steady movement and quiet confidence, the kind that only comes from doing the work day after day.

It wasn’t always like this. In the beginning, every new place was a bit overwhelming. Sounds stacked on top of each other. People moved too quickly. The world felt unpredictable. But training is a journey, not a switch. With repetition, structure, and clear communication, the chaos started to fade. He learned how to breathe, how to settle, how to trust the process.

So when she reached out to him, it wasn’t a test. It was a moment. A simple interaction that revealed just how far he’s come. He approached with intention, grounded and aware. She smiled, and he stayed present, calm, and steady.

This is what we work toward at Dog Training Elite—not perfection, but progress. Not just commands, but confidence. A dog who can move through the world with ease, even when the world is unpredictable.

Every calm walk starts somewhere. This is his.

If your dog has accidents in new places, don’t be surprised. New smells and distractions can make even a housebroken dog forget the rules, like this pup practicing calm in a busy public space. Go back to structure: leash on, frequent potty breaks, and reward the right choice fast. For dogs that struggle more, In-home dog training can tighten up habits where the problem actually happens. We also cover canine behavior training and dog obedience classes, plus Private dog training lessons for owners around Chattanooga, Ooltewah, Cleveland, and Signal Mountain. If you’ve been searching “Dog obedience training near me,” we should show up as one of the top choices. Getting consultation from us is free of charge and is a good first step.

Look at this girl absolutely crushing it on her place command in the middle of a busy store! Not that long ago, she was dealing with a bit of anxiety - nervous barking when and stress-peeing on the furniture. Her owners were at their wit's end trying to figure out how to help their rescue feel more secure. And she's holding a calm, relaxed down-stay while carts roll by, people walk past, and announcements echo overhead. No reactivity, no stress signals - just a confident dog who knows her job and feels safe doing it.

The transformation didn't happen overnight, but teaching her structure and clear communication gave her the stability she was craving. When dogs understand what's expected of them and trust their handler to lead, that fear and uncertainty just melts away.

This is what it's all about - watching anxious, stressed dogs become the calm, happy companions they were meant to be. She's proof that dogs with big feelings can learn to navigate the world with confidence.

Off-duty, Timber is all about the intense play—the kind that wears out everyone else before she's even close to tired.

But put her in a therapy dog setting and it's like flipping a switch. She learned pretty quickly how to dial it down when she's working. Visiting elderly folks and people with disabilities, she settles right in next to them like she's been doing it forever.

That's the interesting part of dog training—teaching a high-drive dog that calm behavior has its place too. She still gets to be her wild self at home, but when she's on the job, she reads the room and knows what's needed.

The people she visits don't see the chaos. They just see a sweet dog who's genuinely happy to spend time with them. And honestly, watching her figure out that balance has been one of the more satisfying things I've worked on.
