Someone recently left a comment on one of our posts assuming that because we raise dogs, we simply "throw them away" or rehome them as soon as they reach retirement. We wanted to take a moment to address that misconception directly, because nothing could be further from the truth for our family. Our dogs are family members, plain and simple. And our old girl Pistol is living, breathing proof of that commitment!
Pistol came into my life as an extra special Christmas gift back in 2014 from my twin sister and my late Mama. Losing my Mama in 2016 broke a piece of my heart, but every single day when I look at Pistol, I see a precious, living connection to her memory.
From the little, sweet puppy sitting by the Christmas tree with her little pink zebra print collar to the wise, grey faced sweetheart soaking up the sun today, Pistol has been right by our side through every chapter. She has retired from her mothering days, but she will never retire from being our dog. She has a forever home here with us! ❤️
